Osmosis Jones 2 : LoveSick

——————-Comic Summary———————

In the aftermath of the first story, LoveSick follows the villainous virus Thrax, showing the microverse from a pathogens perspective. After he finds himself rescued and revived by a mysterious new organism from the depths of the jungle, he is determined to retrieve his stolen DNA chain, as well as something precious kept therein. With the help of an old friend and a surprising new one, he returns to Frank city, encountering deadlier threats than just immunity as he finds himself mixed up in something much bigger, facing a greater loss than just his chain, and being caught in the middle of an ancient and war, and a corrupted force that threatens the very existence of life itself. In the face of a dystopian nightmare, sometimes the smallest and unlikeliest organisms can make all the difference.

The story shows both Thrax and the very bizarre ‘new’ virus Phyrexia on their action packed adventures, interacting with all the original cast characters from the first story, making new allies and enemies, and delving into the inner psychological and emotional turmoil they both go through on the journey. It covers their origins, their goals for the future, and everything in between, as they both find themselves, overcoming their pasts and opening themselves up for a better future. It carries a heavy message about the fragility of life, and how microbes play such an important part in the balance of life and death in ecology, intertwining it with real world issues and tying human mythologies into it.

Authors Notes -

Hi! I formed this comic story sometime around 2001-2002 shortly after the movie released. I was captivated by the world and characters, especially the anthropomorphism or viruses and bacteria. I’ve always loved microbiology and I’ve always cared a lot about the planet and creatures living here, and found great fascination in how the simplest organisms can make or break the tree of life. Microorganisms were the first living things (viruses too, though it’s debatable if they are considered living or not, but I consider them so) and through all the evolution and up scaling of life, they have remained the most successful life forms on earth, hardly changing since the dawn on life. The world has really been going to hell, and I’ve seen countless species vanish even since I first formed this story. I’m hoping that, despite the quirky nature of the microverse, that the morals and deep messages of this story will play some part in aiding humanity as well as all the other living things on the planet. Of course, it’s also a really touching love story and pretty funny in parts too, so I hope it can bring readers a lot of happiness as well.

I’ve added and incorporated parts of the story from a roleplay I’ve been working on with DamienMuerte as well, so once we reach parts from there I’ll be sure to mention it in the captions ^-^

I mentioned mythology. There is a good bit of tying together various mythologies with real world things in here, not in any preachy way but (((I spoiler: as you will soon see, Phyrexia turns into a dragon and that gets explained, for example.))) in a fun way that makes you look at the mythologies a bit differently or from a different perspective. There’s also a lot of actual microbiology and anatomical references of course, and a lot of sci-fi themes as well. I’ve always had a deep love of taking things and tying everything together in a cohesive way. As Phyrexia’s kind would say ‘All will be one’. That said, I also collect random elements from other sources that I like and find a way to work them in too, so look out for Easter eggs referencing other stories (like other movies) and mythologies! Let me know if you find them and I’ll give you a cookie ^-^

Please don’t ship them with your own characters or different characters, and don’t change their lore (especially if you don’t know all of it yet, it’s best to not take liberties claiming they did this or that). If you want to make an OC from a species created by me or inspired by one of my species, please credit me in the description and tag me 🙏🏻

I’ve had this happen a few times already and though I don’t mind using it as an inspiration, if it’s nearly identical but with your own OCs (thinking Thrax ship pics here) then I’m not the biggest fan of it. Finally, I know there are several other OJ fan comics out there, and I don’t want mine to be compared with them as much as their artists wouldn’t want to be compared with mine. That includes anything like ‘this comic is better than that comic’ ‘this or that comic is the best comic’ ect. either for or against this comic or the others. Everyone that makes these things spends a lot of time and effort on them, and they are all unique with different stories and characters and themes, so they aren’t comparable and should all be appreciated for their own uniqueness.
