Description Name: Tald
Height: Tall
Weight: Medium
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Likes: Tea, naps, a good drink with friends, gardening, flowers, and vegetables.
Dislikes: Hasty people, conflict, not being able to walk away from problems.

Personality: Tald is a very easy going guy. It takes a lot to push his buttons, and if you do manage to upset him he'll likely leave the situation before lashing out. He is very fond of nature, which is appropriate considering his power to manipulate it. He is very sensitive to others emotions (though he hides his own with a smile), and will do what he can to cheer almost anyone up. Having studied plants extensively, Tald is happy to give the name of any plant when questioned as well as descriptions of its growth patterns and crop.

Back-story: Tald's origin is one he is never to keen on sharing. He was abandoned as a child and has left in and out of foster homes for most of his young life. Early on, he discovered his magic ability while hiding in old man's garden. The elderly man's name was Glen, and he took an instant liking to the boy, and decided not to return him to his foster home after hearing both the cruel manner of care with which they cared for Tald, and also the fact that home from where Tald had fled was nearly a half a country away.

Years passed and under Glen's care Tald came to both a sincere man and fantastic gardener (though some would call his means of care cheating). One day Tald returned home to see his guardian run in with a black sword lying in a heap in his garden, Glen’s house inflamed. In his last moments, he implored Tald to make the world beautiful with his magic, telling him to make the world as lovely as his garden.

His last wish clear in his mind, Tald took up his old vagabond ways and began sowing seeds in every town he arrived in, unaware that he was being pursued.

Skills:

- Advanced Plant Knowledge: Tald has studied plants all of his adult life. He knows how to care for anything ranging from flowers to rare herbs to trees. Asking him a question about nature will almost always trigger a happy response.

- Compassion Magic: Tald’s Compassion Magic is limited to plants. He is unable to heal anything that is not one, though he can conjure up herbs and medicines that can serve a similar purpose. Sprouting seeds and growing things in a manner similar to natural growth often require other elements, such as water or fertilizer. His magic can only go so far in terms of creating lasting plant life. Under perfect conditions, Tald can create almost fantastical changes in plants, and is considered by some to be an ‘artist of the garden’.

- Conflict Magic: Tald is far less fond of this branch of his power. While slowly he can create plant life from seeds that will last, his Conflict Magic hyper grows plants into twisted abominations. From seeds, Tald can fire bursts of javelin-like branches in rapid manner. While the plants almost immediately die after this harsh manipulation, Tald is able to shape them in a manner that suits his needs. Tald is able to change the shape of the sprout easier due to the harsh nature of this magic. Any seed that he has imbued with magic can be triggered for rapid growth. Conflict magic can only be imbued through touch. Once the seed assumes its final shape, Tald can no longer manipulate it.

- Center Magic: Tald is able to set aside both Conflict and Compassion to create Center Magic, or the ability to hyper-grow lasting plants. This branch of magic takes time to build up energy for, and does better when in the presence of water. Also using this magic drains Tald's energy more quickly than others. Even after full growth of plant, Tald can still manipulate it.

Fighting Style: Tald’s fighting style can be described as an immobile fortress. He’s slow, but facing him head on can end badly due the fast demeanor of his Conflict Magic. Before fighting, He imbues a handful of seeds with magic and creates a wide circle around him. Should anyone get to close, he can trap them or attack. Tald doesn’t seek to due harm, but he will almost always pursue the fastest way to end combat. This means he will launch a plethora of attacks, and create numerous traps and barriers for any approaching foe. After conflict, if there are any seeds remaining, he will gather them to be placed back in his pockets.

Relation to the Artist: Tald sees Eddie as a younger version of himself. Tald is happy to lend his assistance to the artist at any time. As with all things, Tald believes that is through compassion and care that Eddie can grow into a better person.

I'm going to ask a dumb question, so just forgive me.

Did you read anything on this page?

Alright, to join the tournament there is a few things you need.

1:Character sheets of all of your characters, 2-4.

On each the character sheets, you'll need a full color picture of the character, as well as a front, back, and side view.

You need to include these so whomever you get matched up against can better represent your character.

For that goal, you should also include information on the characters personality, lifestyles, fighting powers (should they have any).

YOU MUST HAVE A CHARACTER SHEET FOR YOU, THE ARTIST. One of your characters must be a representation of yourself. So no ninja skills, fire breath, or any of that hoo-ha. You can however have three of your own characters (hence forth OCs) and they can be anything you've thought up before.

2. An Audition comic.

All this is is a way to tell how you came to be in this tournament. It's a fantastic world that this thing takes place in, you need to tell us how you get there.

This is where you get to bust out your comic chops.

Honestly though, I think if you just read the page you'll get more out of it.

When you're ready to submit your characters and audition, just send a message to with the links to each, and they'll take it from there.

If you like him, keep him. Hell, I have a magic swordsman in my team- not like there won't be a dozen of that type in the tournament. If you like your character, just tweak him until he feels "yours" enough. Conartist is a judge, for one thing, so his characters are total NPCs. For another, there are going to be a lot of repeating power types- you can't avoid it. I don't know enough about Tald to make a valid comparison; but if he's yours, then stress his unique points.
