Made for my "Create a Light Painting, Bokeh Effect in Illustrator β Vector Premium Tutorial" on vector.tutsplus.comβ
Made entirely in Illustrator after a hand-drawn sketch for the type. I used Art and Scatter Brushes to create the effect. And naturally different kinds of blend modes.
I've seen similar effects done in Photoshop quite often, so this was very much also an effort to recreate the same, using only vector means.
No blurs were used to create the artwork.
There are probably some flaws in it, as I was mainly trying to write a tutorial on it
Nonetheless I am very please with the outcome and hope the tutorial will be helpful

How! This is fantastic! May I ask how long you have been working with Illustrator? I know Photoshop left and right, but I have never been able to really grasp Illustrator, as much as I'd like to.

I have been starting to teach myself Illustrator 5 or 6 years ago. Before that I used Freehand for vector work, which I also learned at college.
Illustrators interface is a bit harder to understand, when you worked with Photoshop before. They share some similarities, but you usually have to learn Illustrator from the basics. And play around with it

The 'lightpainting' looks amazing as well the bokeh in the background, but I imo don't like the bokeh in the foreground, also the i dot looks like an e.

Background = big ones are great.
But the small ones are kinda weird imo, they are looking to many while looking to less. I can't describe it. :B
