I couldn't think of a better theme with which to paint my shoes... but I still like the outcome. All I have to do now is touch up the white areas and seal it with something.I hate painting SOOOO SMALL >:C I'm not very good at painting butterflies, either, so they just look like the Xs in lucky charms cereal... and the bunny/squirrel shoe came out retarded because I spent less time on that shoe.

Hmm. I'm in a critiquey mood today, considering my 100 self portraits project was due today and I was analytical out the wazoo.
But anyway. I appreciate the overall cohesion between each season on the shoes: the transitions, for the most part, are very appealing and well-planned, it seems. Also, I like how you've masterfully tied in the black and white color scheme that the show already has. You've made a simplistic object quite beautiful.
However, there are some decisions that I think you could easily make better with only a few things. Really, I think these are great the way they are, so the following are only suggestions.
Spring is the weakest of the four, I feel. The bunny seems so dark and ominous, not what I expect, even as it disperses into fluttering butterflies. Maybe some brighter, more cheerful colors could help out with the connotation of spring? I also wish there were more green colors on that part of the shoe. Having a black hibiscus makes it seem a bit dead, when in fact spring is about life and rebirth in nature.
Also, the squirrel with orange threw me off a bit for summer. I think autumn. Blues or aquas might even help out the feel, seeing as the sky is blue and the weather is warm, living things are green, etc. Though I don't know what animal "personifies" summer. Maybe... a duck? A glamorous bird? Who knows.

but yeah... spring and summer were definitely not the ones I focused on more and you're right, the bunny just kind of throws everything off. And yeah, I initially wanted the pink to fade into green but I didn't follow through with it. Maybe I'll change the hibiscus to a greenish color, black does look a little boring. (I only chose black because it went with the black tree on the other side.) But you have a good point about the whole rebirth thing with spring!
hmm.. autumn and summer probably seem kind of switched. I was thinking a summer.. sunset feel but I agree with you now that you mention it. I asked my mom and she said ladybugs and fireflies, but I didn't do the fireflies.. perhaps I'll replace some ladybugs with fireflies?

My self portrait assignment was just graded yesterday, so I'll have it back on Monday. Hopefully my teacher will email me some of her pictures (since it looks nicer hung up in the classroom than in my dorm). I'm not sure if I'll put them on dA, but I can send you them nonetheless.
I'd love to see fireflies instead of ladybugs. Ladybugs invade my house right around winter/spring, not so much summer (though they're around in the summer, which is probably where you came from with that). Fireflies personify summer much more to me, though.

haha and I'm sure it was somewhat difficult because of how limited space you had to draw those small creatures XDDDD but it's still so cute :3 I like the autumn and spring one the best X] but of course i like summer and winter one too hahahaha
how long does that paint usually last? is it the same type of paint you painted the "why so serious?"

and uhhhh yes its the same type of paint I used, theyre acvrylic. They last pretty long (its like plastic when it dries) but of course with anything, itll wear/fade after a bit.

My favorite season is probably the winter season, and I love the way the fox seems to be jumping right out of the flames. o3o

lol xD My shoes were black to begin with, then I painted them twice and repainted it with black. I wouldn't think sharpie shows up very well on black canvas shoes, unless they were white.

(and I've asked some people, I've had clear nail polish, glue, and fixative -like for regular drawings- but I think I will go with the clear nail polish.)

okay, news about the nail polish; I put some on the shoes and a day later they were cracking/peeling a lot more than it would have if I had left it without polish. I dont know if it's the kind I used... but I saved it with modge podge instead (I borrowed it from one of my bff art teachers. xD)

Acrylic dries into a plastic-like substance, so I highly doubt it will wash off a shoe if it doesn't wash off clothing (and I have tons of clothes with acrlyic paint smears on them lol) And they won't fade with a washing either. It will, however, fade and wear off easily if I don't use something to seal it with.

I really like the spring to summer on the most than the autumn to winter, and I'm autumn/winter person XD I just really like the rabbit to butterflies thing... (I'm reminded of TBM for stupid reason ahurrhurrr) and the dandelionssss. Idk why, but whenever I see dandelions they bring me joy ;u;
