Description Wow. I can't believe it. Three years of watching this movie over and over and listening to the soundtrack more than any other music and this is my first piece of HTTYD fanart? Surely there must be a reason?

Actually, yes, there is! Yeah, I know I draw dragons/reptiles/beasts all the time, so one might think drawing anything from this movie would be easy, right? Nope, not even close.. Thing is, the fact that I DO draw stuff like this all the time means that my methods of doing-so are quite set in stone. So drawing dragons that look completely different from what I'm used too is no easy task for me. Therefore, I waited until I'd gotten better at drawing a variety of new things before trying to touch anything from this movie. And, voila, time worked! So, here we are. A night fury from How To Train Your Dragon! I feel so relieved to have finally broken the ice on this movie! I hope to draw The Green Death soon.

Reminds me of some PokΓ©mon from one of the movies... Deoxys, maybe? I don't know, haven't seen them since I was eight. XD

Odd, I remember commenting on this, but it would seem that it never showed up... Perhaps you were thinking of Lugia instead? Deoxys seems like an odd Pokemon to compare a Night Fury to, but I suppose his head kinda looks like its attack form xD

This is a lovely sketch. I really like the smooth shading within its body and foreleg.

I haven't watched the movie in a long time, and sometimes I do regret on giving this movie to my cousin, but what can you do? And I think I've come to a conclusion that the in the film version that book!Toothless and the Hiccup's other dragon, the Windwalker, were smashed together to create the Night Fury. XD

Aww, thanks! I appreciate it! I used a rolled up napkin that I bent in half to smooth it out xD Who needs a blending stick?

Thanks! x3 I appreciate the comment! I wanna draw a deadly nadder and The Green death later on, but I'm certainly glad I could draw this.

Thanks! And.. actually, those large spots are pupils xD The Night Fury's eyes are similar to cat eyes, as the species is inspired by a black panther. Perhaps I should've made it a bit more clear, though. I'll see if I can fix it. I appreciate it!

I could understand not being able to see them; the highlight on the pupils is a little to intense... otherwise awesome work!

Sorry, never saw this comment before. Thanks! ^^ I'll fix that in my sketchbook then eventually get around to scanning it in.
