I wanted to convey a sense of mystery with the use of this color scheme depicting icy waters, a glowing shroud of fog, and the cold fire of the heavens.

A companion piece to a collage I had made a few years earlier (Lighthouse picturefragments.deviantart.co… ,
I recreated this scene in a different light, so to speak.

EDIT: I reworked the sky of this piece as I was unsatisfied with the effect of the original work. In the end, I believe the extra effort was well worth it as I am pleased with the result. It now represents a more suitable contrast to its opposite, "Lighthouse".

Some materials used in this work were derived from various magazine sources, perhaps including, but not exclusive to; National Geographic, National Geographic Travel, Architectural Digest, Architectural Record, Outside, Smithsonian, In Style, Playboy, Transworld, Reader's Digest, Sailing, Sports Illustrated, Field & Stream, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Skateboarder, American Hunter, and American Rifleman.

I have altered, rearranged, and transformed the fragments of photographs and advertisements published in these magazines in a way inconsistent with their original context, focus, and arrangement, so that any derivative use qualifies as de minimus, and therefore does not infringe on any copyright. Additionally, some elements may have been appropriated and recontextualized, qualifying as fair use.
