So just another slow day, working on stuff. The sketch to this was a bit sloppy though. I kinda screwed up on 9's face, but nothing a little illustrator program couldn't fix. I've been wanting to put this up for a while.This was one of my favorite moments in the fan-fic. 9 finally loses it, comes apart and breaks down in front of 7. He's pretty much at a very low point in his life... His very short life, I should say. This poor little guy has only been alive for a few months and already has had a rough start and is feeling the pain of guilt because of it. After being away from her and the twins for six weeks, while going through the emotional journey of finding the bodies of the dead and the trouble of restoring their stuff, (even making 2 a new hat) he needs the comfort of someone. His grief is understandable, which annoys me when some "fans" call 9 is an emo. Ya know what I say to that is...
The way I see it, an emo is someone who is melodramatic and always looking for attention. Which often makes them act mopey, pathetic and sometimes suicidal. 9 isn't like that. He wants to feel happy. He wants to live his life and be with the ones he loves, but at this point and time, he just can't seem to get there.

You know I often imagine him in random situations where he is shown as a relaxed softy at one point I even doodled a picture of 9 drinking coffee wearing Noodles basketball vest as a blanket and I found it pretty cute I'll upload it soon

Yeah, because the 9 I know, despite feeling sad and doubtful of his past, tries to fix things and make things right.
"They all died because of me. I started this and now I have to finish it."
Surely, for most people, when it comes to making such a huge mistake, such as ending up having five of your friends killed, they would easily stay out so they wont make things worse. But 9 isn't like that. He would actually take the risk, especially his life, to fix what he did wrong.
I'm sure he would still feel very sad and guilty of his past afterwards, but he still tries to stay strong for the sake of the ones he has left and continuing life...just as the scientist wished for before he died.
I actually did get frustrated in this fanfiction that showed 9 being suicidal and trying to kill himself, with 7 having to aid his depression. I'm sorry to say this, but being a fan for only few months, i know its completely out of 9's character to do that. I had to immediately stop reading it after I read that part.

I don't recall him being THAT suicidal in the chapter, but more at a very low point in his life. It's really not as bad as what I would have written if it were me writing the story. Eesh! Besides things do get much better after that. I suggest maybe giving it another chance? But that is entirely up to you.

OH...oh my heart....
Piddies, you've outdone yourself. This is amazing. The raw emotion is very real in this piece. The way 9 is just curled up so tightly into 7, the way he's gripping her like she's the only thing keeping him on this earth just tugs at any emotion you think you had. I just love the expression on their faces, it just simply perfect. The very blue color palette is also quite perfect fitting with the emotion.
Its all what I thought it was going to be. Its just simply gorgeous. Poor 9, he just looks so heartbroken. He's lucky he's got 7 to hold him up, like he'll eventually have to do for her.

Now by him holding her up, do you mean what happens in chapter 17 or chapter 28?

I felt so sad at 9's breakdown. It feels like he could use a hug after everything in the movie with everyone's deaths, especially 2 and 5.

Poor little guy saw every one of there deaths. I would be to surprised if he were to suffer from ptsd after that.

Yeah, he's the only one who watched five of his friends die. Not everyone saw 8 get killed by the Fabrication Machine, but 9 was the only one who witnessed it.
