Happy birthday picture forHappy belated birthday fwd!
I am so sorry I am late T___T!!! I tried to make it in time but I couldn't...I really hope you had a great birthday though!
I wanted to draw you Zidane since you really like him
I hope I didn't ruin him for you llorz .. It's kind of embarrassing since you draw Zidane so well ;3; you must be seeing all the mistakes I made sljflksdfls B-but I tried my best(I am sorry this is my best llorz);_;Anyway, thank you so much for being such a wonderful friend

I need to go to sleep loooool; I am going to a friend's house in just a few hours.. I hope I can stay awake haha;
I started this in December 31st, 2010 and finished it just now(Edit:January 3rd, 2011). I love how this connects the two years
I wanted to be able to upload this on the 1st but I couldn't finish it;;
There's so many mistakes and fails in this;; I'll have to add 'practicing poses & perspectives" to the new year's resolution list. haha that sword is so bent
I'll be going back to school next Wednesday, so I am not sure when I'll upload the next picture I draw. Ughh

I agree with you 100% on what you've said about the design. I couldn't decide what to do and ended up leaving it like this. I tend to leave background last, but from now on I'll try to plan more carefully and invest more time on background and the overall design of my future pieces.

Sooo... I'm going to try to write my first critique... and in english please!
First of all, I must say that this is an amazing piece of art. I envy people who can draw such soft lineart, or draw without any lineart at all actually. The colours are warm and well balanced in my opinion, very attractive. Everything is nicely rendered, from the gold of the sword to the fluffly tail (love that fuzzy tail by the way). The coloring of the face and his eyes is what appeal me the most. Very soft shading and such vibrant turquoise irises! Almost making poetry here, yay.
Now if I had to be picky, I would maybe say that the hair needs a little bit more 'definition', by adding some darker shades maybe? It's like it's less contrasted than the rest of the picture. Same for the face, I think. His shoulder had darker shades than the skin behind his hair... I don't know if you see what I mean? Lighten the shades on his left shoulder or add some contrast to the rest of the skin would be my humble advice, but then again it's already very, very beautiful like it is.
I would have also maybe given more texture to the pattern on the sword, but now I'm just being a perfectionist ahah. I salute your talent, and hope that this critique was alright (sorry for the mistakes!).

You are absolutely right. I especially agree that either his left shoulder should be lighter or the face should be more contrasted. I actually didn't notice until you told me llorz
(and of course, his hair needs more darker shading)
And as for the patterns on the sword, I was supposed to give it texture(make it more glossy or metal-like) and shadow, but I am embarrassed to say I got really tired and gave up. I should've just worked on this more today.. I am disappointed in myself

I'm glad you agree with the shoulder and hair because I was afraid to have gotten ahead of myself on that... But it's a minor flaw don't worry. I had to stare at him before finding anything I could write about. >_>
Don't worry about getting lazy on the end, it happens to everybody! But I'm glad if I could help. ;D And the reason why you don't receive critiques maybe is because there's not much to critique eheheh!

or sometimes, it might be that people are afraid to give critiques; I am one of those people. I am not so good with words, and am afraid that someone might misunderstand what I say;_;(it actually happned not so long ago; I tried to fix the misunderstanding but that person, who I gave a critique to, flatly rejected everything I've said and ignored me :/)

I'm good with words usually... but not in english. T-T I'll write more critiques from now on, but most of them will probably be in french. I'm too afraid that people are going to misunderstand my english and take the critique wrong. :<

Ah that part was my fault; I was an admin of those art groups with certain "standards" and when members asked why their art was declined, I honestly didn't know what to say(unless they put them in the wrong folder or something) other than critique;(like, explaining what didn't meet up to the club's standards etc.)
I tried to explain since that person obviously misunderstood but since they ignored me, I couldn't do anything about it; I admit I was angry because I've been accused but.. I gave up trying to convince them because I could see that I wasn't going to be able to get through them.
I don't mind getting critiques out of no where haha as long as it's a critique, not something like "oh that leg looks weird". I know that some people dislike getting critiques unless they asked for it.
What are you talking about, I think you are much better than me with English LOL
