Dude! The shot is quite impressive! Usually clear stary nights are a pain, but you actually managed to capture a pic with the M-31 Andromeda galaxy and if I may say, it's so clear I think I can see one of the satellite galaxies as well! What star pattern is it in? I've been told cassiopia actually points almost directly to it!

This must be photoshop, otherwise please explain to me how you actually capture those stars please.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

PierreRodriguez In reply to Nils-Iver [2012-02-17 16:27:06 +0000 UTC]

I use photoshop and lightroom for contrast and to highlight the stars of the raw file.
But I added no stars with photoshop, they are all already present (and the milky way too).
I use a 5D MKII with ISO 2500 or more and a 30 second exposure, that is the secret

Wow, you really did a great job!
May i ask you under wich circumstances you took this wonderful photo?
I always wonder if there really are so many bright stars in the sky or how you get so catch those wonderful structures and different color.
I would be very thankful if you could answer my questions!
Greetings from Germany

PierreRodriguez In reply to Ichigo-hoshi [2012-01-31 12:58:49 +0000 UTC]

This is the reality, especially far from cities because the city lights pollute the sky. Here it's in Alps
This is one shot with 30 seconds exposure. The yellow color is light pollution.
Thank you very much

I really love this one! It's so sharp and that is why it stands out from most of the star photos I've seen on dA. They are often a bit blurred.
