Meet bloop, a little creature I made up a few months ago. He lives underwater and communicates by making bloopy noises and shoots bubbles all over the place. It was fun etching him!

As an illustration major, one might logically assume that I like to make up stories and characters. WRONG! I've never had a desire to write a novel or create a comic, and I've never made characters up and stuck with them. The idea of creating a person and giving them a back story and a personality is just not in my interest. Bloop is the first thing I've ever grown attached to not only as a design, but as a character. It's been fun revisiting him in multiple assignments and media!

It's been far too long since I've done a pocket etch a sketch piece. I've been occupying my time with all sorts of stuff recently, and haven't been giving myself as much time to etch as I would like. Hopefully this will be the beginning of me kicking it back into gear and punching out more etches.
