The theme of how a series of miserable events will eventually lead to a happier outcome is well portrayed in this symbolic painting.. I am reminded of the loss of innocence being a fortunate fall because of the good that would come from it ... and the chess board is a brilliant anology!!!! Just my tuppance. Thought provoking. You give it amazing treatment of light I love how it flows and glows on the coin. The shadow of the black figure on the left adds me a bit of confusion to the case of light source you used localised light well.

It's lighted from both sides and in an unequal amount so you can get some light inside the darkness. and the light source must be from a narrow point in order to get sharp straight shadows that you can direct a little on the left or on the right to get the 2 cast shadows (coming from the 2 light sources) on the same line .
