Great mood. It reminds me a lot of the fall storms that used to come when I lived in Canada.

Florida is great for a vacation but that scene is home.

Well, I'm in agreement with you there. In fact I just booked my Florida vacation this morning.

I haven't made it there yet but I've always wanted to because of Ding. I'm further north in the Clearwater area but we spent a year living in Ft. Lauderdale as well. Hard to make a living and summer is brutal but it's not bad for photo ops.

It combines two of my passions--beach-combing and birds. Hard to beat.
I lived in Melbourne for a year and a half so I got to experience that summer-time heat and humidity. Though to tell you the truth, I'm not sure it was any worse than a D.C. summer.

I think the heat and humidity is probably the same. I had the same thing in Toronto due to the surrounding great lakes. The big difference for me is the length it lasts. I don't handle heat well so when you have it from April to December it's just too long for me. The schools here are weird too and it just makes it worse. Dress code requires modest dress so no tank tops, open toed shoes, or shorter skirts. It makes it difficult when the schools are designed so that all doors lead to the outdoors and you are required to stand and hold them open during passing periods. All the a/c in your room leaves during the 6 minutes you hold the door open and you do that every 45 minutes. Weird system. Still, a good place to be when you do get time off.

Holding the door open for six minutes makes no sense at all... unless to cool off the great outdoors. What a waste of energy and comfort. I can understand why you'd be frustrated.

Wherever that weather was coming from it moved in fast. But I got to see the whole shebang from the comfort of my living room, which made me infinitely happy. I do love a storm!
Wow. I didn't even know about the fire in Dubois. I was on Sanibel all of December and I probably wouldn't have even heard if Yellowstone had blown. (I tend to insulate myself when in paradise.)
So how's the new transport?

Perhaps the new truck will surprise you. But in a good way. Then again, a few foibles will make her so much more interesting.
