But I thought they didn't have any form of concience and wouldn't care if they killed someone
But maybe they could learn to do the right thing even if they didn't feel like it

I have mix feelings about this one. I somewhat agree but somewhat disagree and here's why. If you think about it. Some of the greatest villains ever made to film and TV such as Jafar, never really had a background story of why they became that way. Oh sure Jafar was an adviser but it's never explained why he became interested in being evil. He just is. It's never really explained. Sure there could be some past to think about, but for the most part, it's never revealed. So one would have to guess.
Myotismon, is another example of a great and powerful villain but he doesn't have a past. At least not as much of one. There's not much known, other than he's an undead Digimon. How was he created? Who created him? He's intelligent. There seems to be more reason other than some prophecy he only believes might come true. No one knows but that doesn't mean he's a bad villain. He's a great villain. He's the most evil Digimon to ever be put in the Digimon series because unlike a lot of mindless Digimon villains such as Apocalypmon who does somewhat have an origin, Myotismon thinks like a human almost. A very intelligent human but also mix with a demon. He doesn't need a reason. He does it because he loves it.
Sometimes that's sorta how real people become bad people. I've known stories where people who had a perfect childhood, nothing wrong, just decided to go out and kill people. No reason. They just want to hurt people. That's sorta what makes a person like that even scarier, because there isn't a motivation or issue. They just want to.
So yeah, I do get that villains with a past can be more interesting because there's a reason but when you really think about it. A lot of great villains aren't shown with a past and how they become to be. Most villains don't have a past and the ones that do. Well good, the writer took time thinking more about em, but that doesn't mean all villains without past is a bad villain, as most don't when you think about it. Or at least if they do, it's not ever revealed at all or if not, a little bit.

Well, all villains taken or created by Disney don't really have a past. None of them, as long as I remember. But they still have a reason to be villains, Jafer wants power (as like 80% of villains and that's really boring :/ ). And in fact, I've never love Disney's villains. Neither Jafar (but still, I like the Twisted's Jafar).
Aaand, I don't know Digimon so I can't tell ... But I agreed, some villains have no past and all, like Moriarty and they're quite great villains. He had his reason (he was boring and all). Even I don't really like Moriarty and I'm not a Sherlock nerd so maybe he have a childhood that I don't know. But villains who have a past that explains what they are, are always most famous than the others, I mean, the Joker of Batman. 'Getting mad because of acid. And the CSI Las Vegas' serial killer too, I never remember his name but he turned out because of his father...
I don't think people can become bad with no reason. There is always something. Sometimes it's their mind (even if they had a perfect childhood). I mean ... I can't imaginate someone become really bad with no reason. (Some people tell that's the "human instinct" of killing ... I don't trust them. Why would we kill more than any others kind ?) Every time there's a reason. Even getting boring about the world like Moriarty is a reason and it's what created the villain.
In every work (book, movies, videogames...) I don't think a lot of people can like those villains without past and reasons to be. I don't. But when I think about it, I'm telling myself that they have to have something, it's just ... the writter doesn't tell or even think about it.
Anyways I'm sorry for my pretty bad english ^^'

My villian is bad because the guy that bullied him made him crack. Basically he thinks the world is trying to kill him so he feels he must fight back with crime.
