A Patapon tribute I did ages ago, featuring Gong the Hawkeye and Meden.

When I first played the game, I was not expecting Gong to whisk Meden away from home base, especially after his little token challenge in the mountains, toying with a prisoner's life. That seemed significant. Coming back to camp, I had to then realise that it hadn't been as significant as what had happened in my absence.

Gong, until that point, had been a sympathetic character. I liked him for his honour and the fact he had his heart in the right place. Kidnapping Meden (whom I felt reasonably strongly attached to as a player at that point... dratted eyeballs all brought out my mother instinct where everything else in life has always failed to trigger it), however, knocked him from his pedestal to the end of the scale where I just wanted to see him and the other Zigotons burn.

After my obsessive gamer rage died down a bit, I had to admit I was pretty much in awe of the little red bastard. Still am, to this day. Eyeball or not, he's one of the better characters in video game history.
