Description Here's a picture that I finished in April 2010 and have just been too lazy to upload. I actually sold a print of it at Star Fest in Denver, CO about a month ago and even one first place in Fantasy so I was pretty happy Hope you enjoy!

Approximately 33 Hours to complete in Photoshop CS4

I love this, so many details. It's an awesome picture, the only thing that seems off is the strap to her sword. It doesn't go around her, it seems like it just goes to her neck. Otherwise fantastic work

EqualToYou In reply to pinkhavok [2010-10-20 05:15:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh gawd, two years to go, this is my sixth quarter. lol did you see tom last quarter, he was so cute decorating the 8th floor. It's completely renovated. 810 is full of new stuff, theres nothing about it that's left the same really. It looks good. Congrats though! Did you start work or what?

pinkhavok In reply to EqualToYou [2010-10-20 17:37:32 +0000 UTC]

2 years is a long time but it goes pretty fast Yeah I saw the hall, all renovated and what not so it's cool to see all the different art up around the school. Yeah I started work at a company in Boulder as a freelance concept artist. It's fun but I'll have to see if it becomes permanent. Otherwise off to find more permanent work

Very nice work! Her look reminds me of the lead character from my novel, except that Maellory uses a scimitar that she wears at the waist.

It is indeed an awesome drawings, I love all of the details and the fact that we can make the difference between the textures...I mean leather looks like leather and mtal looks like metal for example.

wow, i like this one too.
You've got a cool style and lots of talen.
.
Ps - what did you think to the work in my gallery.
Some feedback would be great

pinkhavok In reply to richardnorth [2010-05-20 14:04:21 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much As to your gallery I like that you have so many different styles, you're photography especially looks nice. I like your pieces with food as those are fun. As far as your paintings go I think you've definitely have strengths in you architectural and mechanical pieces. You seem to have good control of acrylics, watercolors and pastels. I especially like your "Incomplete" piece. Traditional media, like digital media is very difficult and far less forgiving so kudos to you for doing so well. As far as your people go, they look a little flat. It's always difficult to create the look of shape and volume whether with color or pencil so that is an area I would work on. Mainly it's just practice though. Use a lot of reference for your pics and that will help to create believability. It's something I still struggle with all the time so we just have to keep working and striving for that unattainable goal

richardnorth In reply to pinkhavok [2010-05-20 15:53:29 +0000 UTC]

thankyou.
Also thanks for all the faves and feedback.
I really need to rethink the way i do digital art.
The lack of popularity they had recieved is the acid test.
I have some ideas but i may wait until i buy a more diverse piece of software.
Arcsoft media impression is very limited.
.
The people. i see your point.
The only thing i will say is that i have opted to try to work without references.
Sometimes making them look realistic is not the most important thing.
I'm trying to improve the area of capturing expressions correctly.
And i believe that success in that area will come from studying real people in real time as opposed to photos and magazine pictures.
.
Once again thankyou very much for taking the time to observe my work

pinkhavok In reply to richardnorth [2010-05-20 16:02:27 +0000 UTC]

No problem yeah I know what you mean about being realistic, it all depends on the look your going for. I myself really like paintings that have a more comic book look to them. Marko Djurdjevic is by far my favorite painter out there, though you'll probably never be able to tell by my style lol. You're definitely on your way though! Maybe check out Art Rage or Corel Painter. They're not as expensive as Photoshop and I've seen people do amazing work with them. I just started out on Photoshop because I'm in school and that's what I got comfortable with, and getting a student discount certainly helps lol Well good luck with you're work and take care!
