Description

So, this person named started a trend to make hunter’s profiles.

Being a fan of her comic for a long time (go read it right now), I just had to make my own. hopefully i didn't forget to fill any data. Too bad that the computer messed up my drawing, it looks so good in my sketchbook…

Moving on, I’m making two of these. The other one is about mi sister’s hunter and will be uploaded in the weekend if I manage to finish it.

Name

Johanna

Age/Date of Birth

25; Born on the third month, in a warm summer night.

Place of Birth

A small town lost in the desert.

Race/Ethnicity

Latina, mixed heritage.

Sexuality

Straight. She’s oblivious to any advance by the opposite gender, taking for granted they are pulling her leg. She had a platonic love once.

Education

Reads several books per year and has a vast amount of teorical knowledge. Grammar Nazi.

Social Class

Upper-middle class. She has elegant princess mannerisms, which make her look like an ineffectual hunter.

Religion

She’s got an undying faith in the god of her people, but respects the beliefs of other cultures.

Politics

Her views in political matters are biased. Has a tendency to dislike Wyverians and their control over guilds.

She won’t discuss the subject if no one brings it up.

Physical Appearance

Height: 175 cm – 5,7 ft.

Weight: 70 kg – 154 lb.

Basic Build.

Has an hourglass complexion, with not very noticeable muscles. Taller than the average of her people. Has more physical strength than it seems, but her weak ankles make her trip and fall at the worst moments.

Hair

Long purple hair. Tends to freak out when it gets dirty (which is very often because she is a freaking hunter). Ties it up or braids it.

Eyes

Dark brown.

Distinguishing Marks

Wears makeup, namely lipstick, mascara and nail polish.

Clothing/Armour Style

She wears the armours in full set, never mixing them. She prefers feminine but not sexy armours.

Favourite Weapon

BOWGUN (light or heavy). Will settle for bows if she has that option in the arena.

Health

She has a very weak stomach and tends to catch colds or fevers with ease. Therefore she must always choose her food carefully and bring the proper items to zones like the tundra or the volcano.

Basic Personality

Quiet, intelligent, sarcastic, easily distracted. She stays away from people, never smiles or talks to strangers. She never asks for help, not wanting to sound whiny or weak, and takes matters in her own hands when people around her seem unproductive. This makes her look like a cold or intimidating person, but she’s actually very kind and sweet (even goofy) once you manage to get close to her.

Fears

Spiders.

Goals

To have a life of peace and prosperity forged by her own effort. She also wants to get many, many prizes.

Desires

She wants nothing but the happiness and well being of her loved ones. In a personal perspective, she aims to be the best gunner and longs to be recognised by that tittle.

Secrets

She is quite romantic at heart and wishes to meet a good and faithful man to marry. She’d sooner die than admit it out loud.

Regrets

The times when her insecurities got the better of her and allowed other hunters to take credit for her hard work.

Mental Health

Stable, but she tends to be moody; prone to lose her cool and become quite aggressive if someone hurts her sister.

Other Relationships

Cha-cha and Kayamba: two little troublemakers that her sister brought to the house. Ever since those shakalakas entered her life, she feels that she has three little nuisances that love to mess around with her sanity. She considers them her little brothers.

Childhood

She had a normal childhood, but she was already a loner back then. Having a rather weak constitution and finding more fun in reading books than in running around with other kids, she remained at home whenever she was out of school. Her little sister constantly broke her estrangement from society, because she was determined to make Johanna her playmate. She succeeded.

Adolescence

Time of turmoil in the family with the departure of the father. Having to learn how to survive and provide for the family, she studied to get a job, but her sister and her plans of becoming a hunter took her career in an unexpected direction.

Occupations

Full-time hunter. Having started by the insistence of her little sister, she joined the same guild but was a weak sword user. The bowgun proved to be the perfect weapon for her, and teaming up, the two have become G-rank hunters capable of taking down anything.

Hobbies

Read books, weave, make money, listen to music, and spend time with her family. She also loves to bake and drink tea.

Organizations

Hunter’s guild. While she despises the idea of hunting in an organization led by Wyverians, she despises illegal hunting even more.

Social life

Jo doesn’t actually have a social life. She normally resorts for her little sister to do the talking whenever they hunt in groups, or remains quiet if the latter is not around.

However, if people come to her with a friendly attitude, she will answer positively.

Alternative Lifestyles

Likes to spend her free time in the guild’s library, learning about anything and everything. If she’s not there, she’s at home, reading her own books, weaving, or baking.

Pets

She doesn’t have pets and doesn’t want them either.

Family History

Little sister: Hunter partner for life. A long sword user who is spoiled and overprotected by Johanna and vice versa. They seem to understand each other almost telepathically, and complement their skills to ensure success in every quest.

Mother: A middle-age woman who enjoys reading books while attending her shop. Loves her daughters and while she accepts their decision of becoming hunters, she’s constantly worried for their safety.

Older sister: A nomad that enjoys life to the fullest and occasionally drops by to say hi and then leave for another journey. They are in friendly terms.

Father: Turned his back on the family and left them when she was a teenager. This caused a wound in her heart that turned her love for him into pure hatred, and hopes to never cross paths with him again.

it's so cool that you hunt with your sister too!
that's true, my best hunts are always with her! since we look after each other and we make jokes, it's a lot more fun than just hunting alone.

ScythicKitty In reply to PinkMochi [2014-05-19 03:15:43 +0000 UTC]

No problem! And I think you got all the details! I used to use that armor a lot at the beginning of MH3, and in MH3U, I still have parts of it on my end-game armor jut because it's pretty. XD And I agree with your huntress' taste in armors- feminine but not sexy. (It always bothered me that while hunting giant dinosaurs, all that cleavage is showing in some of the armors...wouldn't you want your vital organs protected and have that entire section covered up? )

Indeed! Unlike some people online, I know my sister will never take advantage of any kindness or send creepy messages, and we have tons of inside jokes! Plus there's nothing quite like just lazying around on the same bed while playing in the morning! XD

PinkMochi In reply to ScythicKitty [2014-05-19 15:17:15 +0000 UTC]

i made the G bnahabra armor the other day, still as cute as in MH3.

that's true. also, some armors just don't make sense. why go to the tundra in an armor that barely covers your body (barioth low rank armor)? you'll die of hypothermia!
or the male armor is a tank and the female armor is practically lingerie. many armors are great, some are just plain fan service ù.ú

that's exactly how it is! so glad other people understand the feeling

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ScythicKitty In reply to PinkMochi [2014-05-22 00:52:30 +0000 UTC]

Definitely! One thing my hunter prefers differently than yours is mixed armor sets only, never full set. XD I love the headpiece and the little arm cuff things a lot, so those are on one of my bow sets.

Precisely! You'd think that the barioth armor would have been designed from a warm climate monster, but nope! It really doesn't look warm at all! I think MH is one of the series where at least most of the female armors are reasonably protective (minus the cleavage, of course) and not just blatant bikinis (minus kirin...top half of nargacuga...a couple others, but apparently those are also some of the most popular to cosplay as), or if not, then the male version looks pretty bad too, like the bone or dober armors where the male is skimpier than the female haha. Generally though, the male armors do have less skin showing...even on the face. If it's for protection reasons, then wouldn't girls want their faces protected too? "AHHH I got dinosaur saliva in my contacts! With ice blight! Ow ow! They're soft contacts too! I can't take them out! I'm bliiindddd!! Which wyvernian made this helmet that doesn't protect my head at all?!" I remember when I first was playing and didn't realize there was a preview button, I was really excited to have the bone armor since it had "a lot" more defense than the leather one, until I put it on. Whaaat? How does this thing have like 5x the defense but covers 5x less skin?! And why would I want panties made out of sharpened fangs? In any case, though fan service armors will always be in this series due to their popularity with both genders, I personally won't be wearing them! I'm glad there's a lot of variety to choose from! I'm really excited for MH4U!

Yes I know what you mean.
I mean the Dire Miralis set the male is fully clad and the female is relatively covered but they still manage to get some thigh show off.
Another one is the Brachydios the Males looks like a Guyver and the female still shows off cleavage. Gunner has a miniskirt as well.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ScythicKitty In reply to sstteevveenn [2014-05-25 10:22:41 +0000 UTC]

Indeed! You have some great examples there (also I didn't realize how the brachydios male really does look like a Guyver! It really does!). I understand why some armors might be streamlined for speed or heat problems (like plesioth armor), but some parts really should have some pieces covering it! Like if this were more realistic and I was a girl wearing the nargacuga/bone/kirin/dober armor, I wouldn't even want to be facing a kelbi. Just one wrong move and those antlers come piercing my liver!

At least with armors like the sailor, maid, or guildie ones, I can imagine there's chainmail under that blouse, and just maybe, they need the miniskirt to run faster because the blouse is too heavy from the chainmail. So they compensate with a lightweight skirt. And there's no major organs located in the thighs! And then the cleavage...hunters really should be protecting that area, but I suppose since both male and female gamers like armors like that, we'll just have to put up with it. Good thing not all armors are like that though! XD Something for everyone!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

sstteevveenn In reply to ScythicKitty [2014-05-25 11:57:47 +0000 UTC]

Brachydios does actually have something similar to chain mail  I checked.
Well the Sailor set is a fan service set mostly for the female hunter to get upskirt to make panty shots which is insanely frequent lol XD.
Then again some armour doesn't make sense with the skirt part. Like the Gold Heart set the shirt part looks rigid and should technically get in the way with rolling.
I tried mixing some set for the armour appearance and they don't work in battle against fire breathing wyverns. XD
sstteevveenn.deviantart.com/ar…
sstteevveenn.deviantart.com/ar… I went overboard with this one yet it still has useful skills XD
sstteevveenn.deviantart.com/ar… I mixed this one so it looks just as bad as the bone set just sligthly better.

I mean the G rank Zingore sets you get a cat ear wig for a helmet so... god knows.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ScythicKitty In reply to sstteevveenn [2014-05-26 08:15:40 +0000 UTC]

I think with most sets, including those on the male, if you don't equip the waist piece (or use a belt-looking one), then it's panty shots all the time, since they all conveniently have a big hole right where the butt/crotch area is. And any armor with a short waist and leg pieces is pretty much fan service once they get upswung...or go swimming.

I defintitely agree! All the rathian, damascus, and alatreon blade sets with their huge stiff skirt... that just doesn't really work with swimming or climbing, let alone rolling away from monsters! I guess it's more protective than a miniskirt, and it's wide enough that it doesn't restrict movement too much, but still, it certainly doesn't look like it would work well in hunts! XD

Mixing sets is fun! A shame a lot of the "nice" looking ones also tend not to work well when set on fire. XD Plus the skills you can get can be great (though time consuming). I believe the most recommended HBG pierce and abyssal glitch sets are actually mixed as well, and have great skills. Interesting fun sets you have!

I'm not a big fan of the wig sets...just let me have my hair! I'm not secretly bald! Buhuhuhu! XD But they seem quite popular. And at least for the zinogre sets, both the male and female have the ears.

sstteevveenn In reply to ScythicKitty [2014-05-26 09:29:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I found most blademaster trying to mix sets seems to be more of an hassle than just gemming the skill in.
While Gunner seems to have a much better reason to mix.
I'm tried using Hexclamation (Dire Miralis LBG) on abyssal but I can't get used to the sharp right deviation with the bowgun on abyssal.
(I'm not use to using bowguns in general let alone in water)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ScythicKitty In reply to sstteevveenn [2014-05-26 09:43:57 +0000 UTC]

All my blademaster sets are mixed, but it's just almost purely for aesthetics! XD I happen to get some decent skills in, but definitely they're more for fashion than function. If I'm going to sit and game all hour or two, I might as well look at something nice!

Haha I tried soloing abyssal with the hexclamation before and that just took forever! Might as well just grab a lance and start poking it since it's way faster. XD From what I understand, usually you'd want four people with hexclamation in order to make it into a sub-3 minute hunt.  I used to main bowguns in MH3 and MHF, but I haven't really found one I particularly liked in MH3U, so it's definitely not used as much as I would have liked. Which weapon is your main? Hm, maybe we should move this conversation somewhere else, like through notes or on one of our profiles so we don't spam PinkMochi's art with our banter.

how nice! i don't think there's something wrong with mixing armor parts, i just don't like to do it.

many things don't quite make sense, but it's ok like that.

my, i think MH4U will be cool, but i really wanted to get further in MH3U… unless i can still play it online? i don't know...

i'll still be a gunner in that game, but i'm looking forward to see my sister use the new weapons.
the thing that i'm going to miss are my little shakalakas… i heard felynes are cute and all, but i like my cha-cha and kayamba better

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ScythicKitty In reply to PinkMochi [2014-05-25 10:14:05 +0000 UTC]

Haha I do the armor mixing since I find it fun, and some parts I like more than others. XD Goodness some of these pieces makes one's butt look huge! And most helmets don't show the hair, so I end up using a different helmet for some sets too. I'm also not fond of the huge shield that comes with some of the gunner armors...it makes the one arm look very strange...so then I mix that too! But I totally get why people use full sets. Usually it looks amazing as it is, and it is much easier to have good skills like that.

You can play MH4U online, but unfortunately you can't transfer your MH3U data over (only MH4). I don't know if they'll shut down the MH3U servers like they did with the MH3 servers though, since one's on a 3DS and one's on a Wii U. Hopefully not! It would be great for Wii U-only owners to still be able to hunt with their friends. But still, MH4U isn't coming out until next year, so there's still lots of time to get further in MH3U!

Oh yes, the new weapons look great and fun to use. I'll definitely be giving them a couple whacks to see what my new favorite would be if I do like them. Cha Cha and Kayamba are pretty cute, plus they can swim! I'm not a big fan of their normal personality (some of the masks are hilarious though!), but I did like seeing how they interacted together. Maybe it's the improved AI from previous games, but I also found them more useful than felynes. They were great little guys and shall be missed in MH4U.

PinkMochi In reply to ScythicKitty [2014-05-29 01:39:08 +0000 UTC]

whatever suits your style it's cool. some combinations look really well, it's interesting to see when i play online.

i think it was rather obvious that the data from MH3U wouldn't be transferable to MH4 since the setting and monsters are different.
but if the MH4 it's only coming for 3DS, then there's no difference for me since the 3DS version of monster hunter it's not available in my country. i only play in the wii U.

i shall play MH3U for a while longer

i wonder how the new weapons will be… i find it kind of weird, having an insect in your arm… and i don't quite understand how the other one works, so i can't express an opinion...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ScythicKitty In reply to PinkMochi [2014-05-29 03:41:03 +0000 UTC]

Definitely! Though some combinations look worse than others...my friend was telling me how for some reason, just as the hammers tend to be the ugliest weapons in the game, anyone who uses mixed armor sets with a hammer also tends to have hideous mixed sets too! It's like they want to get extra head damage in just by standing in front of the head with a mismatched set beyond saving. XD

Aww, that's too bad. I know quite few people really want to have MH4U on the Wii U. Bigger screen, better online, better graphics, better just about everything and not everyone has a 3DS or enjoys playing MH on it. Although it seems unlikely in the near future, I also hope there will be a port for the Wii U so more people could enjoy it, especially outside of Asian countries where people just don't get together to game as easily. Even with the online for the 3DS, it's still very limited for conversations and what you can do.

I agree, you'd think it would be obvious huh? But I saw a fair number of people online ask if MH3U data could be transferred to MH4U, despite having different skill sets, some monsters, and locations.

Yeah, the bug stick is definitely different. I like the mobility and how it's like a staff-pogo-stick-boomerang all in one, but you really have to wonder what goes on in the weapon design department! Quite unconventional, but I suppose that's somewhat expected of the MH series to an extent. XD The charge axe has a neat concept but as with for both, I also can't really judge them yet until I try them out.

oh, i didn't noticed that the hammer users wore ugly combinations… i mean, i've seen really bad matches, but i failed to see it was more a hammer thing than anything else.

fingers crossed for the games coming over for wii U.

indeed.

thanks!

i'm the opposite, i wish i could write as well as i can draw

i agree. i have met a few gunners that were just awesome, the larger crowd that defends themselves and some that i'm not sure if they even knew how to aim.

being a full time gunner it's not so easy though. i've been a gunner for years, and sometimes i mess up big time.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Felanore In reply to PinkMochi [2014-05-18 21:41:42 +0000 UTC]

So long as you don't use pellet shots in a group setting, that's all that really matters. >_> Otherwise, it's hard to mess up on gunning too much. That being said, and as we both agreed, it's hard to find good gunners. Good gunners, I find, tend to ask if people wouldn't mind carrying extra ammo. Don't know what it is... but I've seen a correlation.

I mostly gun on the side, Heavy over Light, and I'm... decent, I'd say. I definitely prefer melee though.

Also, if you ever want writing tips, I'm always available ;D Well, sort of. In the sense that I check my messages every day.

PinkMochi In reply to Felanore [2014-05-19 14:55:26 +0000 UTC]

no, no, i never use pellets in group hunting. i did when i was a cute little newbie, but not now.

i never ask people to carry ammo for me either, since i don't like to ask for help. it's not even a safe choice, because you don't know if people might get disconnected or leave the hunt with your bullets. or if they'll be able to hand them to you. most impractical.
but i know what you mean. i see that situation, especially against Alatreon.

that would be nice! if i ever need some help, you'll be first in my "911" list.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Felanore In reply to PinkMochi [2014-05-24 12:49:57 +0000 UTC]

Most people have no reason to take ammo from the gunner and then just leave. It's much more beneficial for the group if the gunner's at full capacity. That being said, disconnections do happen, and depending on how effective the rest of the group is you may not even need the ammo, but most people can find the time to hand over the items once or twice in a hunt.

Then again, I'm speaking as someone who only guns on the side. I'm not the worst gunner ever, but I've got a ways to go before I'd consider myself truly good. Much better with melee weapons like the longsword or the hammer.

And I'd be glad to help ;D Anytime.

PinkMochi In reply to Felanore [2014-05-24 16:58:35 +0000 UTC]

i still don't like the idea of giving my ammo to anyone… maybe i'm too stubborn, but i like to handle it myself. otherwise, i feel like i'm asking for a favor

if i ever need someone to take ammo for me, i would give it to my sister. but she's such a good hunter, i hardly ever use all my ammo in a single fight. she kills the monster first

melee weapons are difficult, i say. my sister uses them, but i can't. the only weapon outside the bowgun or the bow i have ever used successfully was the sword and shield. i doubt i would be able to pull that off again, though. O.o

thank you

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Felanore In reply to PinkMochi [2014-05-28 23:45:53 +0000 UTC]

Well, hunting is a group effort, so I figure a small favor like ammo isn't too much to ask but... *shrugs* to each their own.

What sort of weapons does your sister use? And why don't you think you could ever pull of the SnS again?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PinkMochi In reply to Felanore [2014-05-29 01:57:11 +0000 UTC]

yes, of course.

my sister uses mainly the long sword and hammer, but she also uses sword and shield, dual blades, great sword, switch axe, bow, bowgun and lance.

well, i tried to use a sword and shield in the arena the other day, just to try. i felt uneasy, having to run after the monster to hit it and having to sharpen it. it was fun, but i rather use my guns.

maybe i just need to make some time and try again

Felanore In reply to PinkMochi [2014-05-29 02:20:54 +0000 UTC]

Sounds like she does a little bit of everything, just like me. Though, I will admit, I'm not much of a lancer. Not yet, anyways.

Practice makes perfect, as they say, but just be certain it's a weapon you like. I'm of the firm belief that all hunters have a weapon they're naturally suited for, and finding that weapon is a wonderful thing. ^_^

PinkMochi In reply to Felanore [2014-06-05 15:52:40 +0000 UTC]

Lance seems like a weapon that not many hunters use perfectly.

well, the weapon i adore is the bowgun. i fell in love with it since day one as a hunter in MHTri and now it's still my favorite, despite the fact they took away the customization.

i just sometimes wonder if i could pull of using another type, that's all.

Lances used to be the most common weapon back in MH1. Of course, those were the days of the headlockers, so there still wasn't much in the way of skill. I've met one good lancer in all of my days playing MH, and even then he's not as good as I would want someone with a lance to be. He's the best I know, I just feel like he could be better. Somehow.

If you love the bowgun then that's wonderful. ^_^ I know my wife loves the bow and, even though in MHFU the bow is the weakest weapon ever, it's what she likes to use and so she does. You can try other weapons if you like, but don't ever feel forced, mmkay? ;D

Me, I'm a longsworder, but I challenge myself to branch into everything. Except for light bowguns... just not my style. I mostly do it because people don't like longsworders online >-> They seem to think we're all morons and... well... I kind of agree. Most LS users just don't have the patience or the aim to be truly worthwhile in a group.

Fun fact: Tri was where they introduced custom building for bowguns, and it was fan backlash that took it right back out. Just like underwater levels, although I hear those made a comeback at some point. Maybe not.

oh, i didn't know that. Lancers are not very popular now, so i wasn't expecting them to be in the past O.o

hehe, ok.

O.o people don't like LS online? wow, that's not ok. why they would act like that? does LS have something that the other weapons don't? are they too powerful or something?

i knew that fact about the guns, but man, i miss it. being able to use any ammo i wanted was very useful.

what i can't understand is why hunters hate underwater so much. It makes battles more challenging! when monsters get to solid ground, the mobility decreases for them and they are easier to kill. So fighting them to make them come out of the water it's part of the fun, instead of just luring them out.
just thinking about killing all the monsters in dry land is sad. so sad. and boring.

Lances aren't as popular because they require a lot of skill to use effectively. They're big, slow, heavy weapons, even more so than the Greatsword, without the benefit of super high damage. That being said, with full/infinite stamina and certain skills you can basically just stand there while anything attacks you and not take a single point of damage. I've built lancing armor sets before; one of them I call 'The Tower.' Guard Increase, Guard +2, Auto-Guard... and I forget the last skill, but basically I just don't have to do anything but walk towards my enemies and stab them. The walking just takes a while...

As far as the longsword goes, it's technically not built for group fighting. Longswords are powerful, with wide, sweeping attacks for about 80+% of their attacks. This means that if you have any melee fighters who aren't 'grounded' like a Greatsword, you often hit your partners and interrupt their combos. The spirit combo, completed by the roundslash, is even worse because you can and very easily do hit everything even remotely close to where you're aiming.
There are some folks, like myself, who avoid this conflict by actually taking aim before a swing, paying attention to who's nearby and where they're attacking, and then adjusting what we're doing accoridingly (as other weapon users do). There are a LOT of people, thousands of them, that don't do this. They swing and swing and swing and then roundslash over and over and OVER in their lust to have the highest damage output. This, for obvious reasons, bothers people.
So, I tend to avoid using my best weapon online until people realize I'm a competent hunter. I could easily walk around with an LS all the time and just prove people wrong, but I prefer to get a well-rounded experience.

As far as underwater fighting goes, the problem comes in suddenly needing to fight in an omni-directional area while simultaneously being slowed down, and your common combos being radically changed underwater. For gunners, this is how you already operate and nothing really changes underwater besides certain bullets being more or less effective, but for a melee user you're basically tying one hand behind their back, and one leg, and then giving the monster steroids.
This isn't to say hunters can't compensate or learn, because we do, but the only creatures even affected by it are leviathans, creatures meant to be water-based fighters. Everything else doesn't really slow down, as evidenced by the Barioth, the Los, and many others. Their fights are still challenging in their own way because they're in the environments they're strongest in. The Plesioth, if you know the Plesioth, was a fully capable land fighter before underwater fights were introduced because it was designed for a game like that. I would shudder to fight one underwater... that thing is a monster (no pun intended).
Also, to be fair, things have gotten easy since MHFU. Power levels have been warped, and the monsters are more fluid, but with hitboxes that make a lot more sense and not as many challenging monsters... You don't know power until you've fought a G-Rank Kut-Ku and realized YOU ARE JUST A WEAK LITTLE HUMAN IN SILLY ARMOR. >_> It may be the easiest thing in the world to kill, but the G-Rank will mess you up...

Sorry for the rant >_> I'm... kind of obsessed.

i see… so basically all weapons have pros and cons, just like in real life
now i feel like i want to try lances sometime… not now, but one day i will :v

i guess you're right… still is kind of a bummer that people don't like to fight monsters in water. not that is my favorite type of hunt, but i like challenges. my sister hates underwater fights, but she also says that taking them out makes the game too easy.

a G-rank kut-ku? i've seen it in pictures, didn't look like it was much of a threat. O.o how silly of me.
man, i wish i could fight with the monsters i've seen from the other games in the series, but the game's not popular in my country T-T

don't worry about the rant, it was really informative

i should be sorry for taking so long to answer. i've been busy with exams and stuff.

You're fine on taking time to reply. I've, honestly, been so busy with editing my novel and other things that I've barely had time to do much of anything BESIDES reply to comments for about... six months... >________>

Which country do you live in? I never took notice on your profile (but, hey, that's me being oblivious). If you have a Playstation 3 system you can download the Ad Hoc system and connect with other players online. There's still a pretty decent following for MHFU and even MHP3 online (assuming you import the game), and if you get on the Japanese Ad Hoc there's even more players.

The G-Rank Kut Ku doesn't look like much of a threat. It's much the same as the normal Kut-Ku, but G-Rank monsters hit like TANKS. Big tanks. With a second gun barrel. So even the Kut-Ku (a Tri equivalent would be the Qurupeco, though Kut-Kus don't summon help) can be a formidable foe if you're not prepared for him.

And do try out other weapons if you like ;D There's no shame in trying something and saying "I really don't like this." As the Japanese say, "tagei wa mugei," which means "many accomplishments make no accomplishment." Or, for the Western audiences, "Jack of all trades, master of none." In their culture, it's meant to say that you should focus on one skill/weapon/etc instead of trying to do a whole lot. Specialization is valued more than versatility ;D

wow, you're even busier than me.

i live in Chile, South America. i do have a playstation 3 but i can't play online, nor can i get games from outside the country by myself (many, many monetary problems). a pity, sounded like a good idea...

Wow, it must be really fun to fight him. G-ranks are the reason i love this game so much.

words of wisdom, nice

Why can't you play online with your PS3? No internet access? No stable internet? Too expensive? I'm always interested in figuring out things like that.

G-Rank is the reason I play the MH games after a certain point... up until that point it's for the other players, and the weapons, and the armor, and the monsters, and the endless enjoyment from... you know, I'm starting to think I never play it just for the G-Rank >_____> I just only play ON G-Rank...

well, i'm not familiar with the details, but apparently i cannot use my regular wi-fi on the ps3. it seems like i need to pay extra money for the right to use internet in the ps3, at least with the internet system in my country, and pardon my language, there's no way in heaven or hell that i'm paying MORE money just to play video games online. it's not like i'm in a bad financial situation, goodness no, but i'd rather keep my bills in my wallet. :v

of course, this game is amazing from the moment you start as a novice hunter until you get to the highest g-rank level. it's my favorite game hands down.
even having to fight a monster over and over again just to get the one thing missing for your armor and/or weapon is entertaining.

Sounds pretty annoying =/ Can't imagine having to pay more just for gaming services/playing online... it's the main reason I don't have an XBox >_>

And, yes, the game is a wonderful thing. Speaking of, have you seen any of the new equipment/monsters for MH4 yet?

indeed

nothing specific, i've been so busy lately… i know they're the insect glaive and the charge blade. i've seen videos about the first one, which seems cool enough, it's fast and can jump… i just get shivers with the idea of having an insect in the arm, though. but it's useful, so i gotta say i kinda like it.

the second one… you have sword and shield and heavy sword in one weapon, more or less. just like the switch axe, it's cool to watch, but i guess i was expecting something else... i'm not sure.

i'm just a little bit disappointed that they didn't make another long range weapon. i guess it's hard to imagine something else than the bow and bowgun, but there are other thing they could have. like… boomerangs, or slings, or blowguns or anything.

i also saw the winner of the weapon contest. i was almost sure that the piggie was going to win when i saw it, and i'm glad i was right. it even sounds funny

what about you? you like the weapons?
