Over the next few days I'm going to release stuff for my downloads folder, miscellaneous stuff I experimented with for my own convenience or just as tests. This is stuff I do plan to use in pics (well not for these characters specifically), and I feel extremely uncomfortable about keeping to myself, so I'm releasing it to you in a primitive state, the way they are in my folders.
Hence why they're not going on the workshop.
And in this addon's case, I personally do not feel a texture pack of vmts and vtfs, which this is, belongs on the workshop. Despite it having been released before, yes.
Credit to Kitt for making the original textures, reasoning will be below.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The name of the rar is what it is in my folders. 'OctolingEyelashes' is the name of the folder, though you can change it if you desire.
(SFMers: Instructions below will be for gmod, the pack is a bunch of vmts and vtfs, I do not know how SFM works, so however you install textures there is your business)
You mount it to your gmod like any other texture pack into your addons folder. Download Extended Spawnmenu if you haven't so you can see legacy addons
steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles…
Then you find the folder with the materials inside (in browse materials) and use the sub-material tool to replace the corresponding texture, which is simply 'octoling_girl_eyelid' or if it's a particular skin, it'll be numbered
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, Kitt, I'm aware, I'm 100% aware. But people can't just simply draw eyelashes, nor can they edit the vtfs without downloading the program that you can't even buy, but you can only rent (without going the arr mateys route), people shouldn't have to resort to measures that're ludicrous to them just because you seem to be ashamed of it, that absolutely doesn't mean that should apply to everyone. Especially your UV point, you can just add this to the texture or make the original size of this bigger to fit the new texture size, problem solved, incompatible my a** that's why you do that sort of thing (which may happen, eventually, if it happens)
I don't think I made the original vmts for this, but I think I contributed to its creation minorly. This and another I'll release have updates in the form of a minor upgrade which most probably won't be able to see, but they are different.
The texture itself hasn't been changed, but additions to the texture certainly are. The regular headband texture has two flags, 'No Mipmap' and 'No Level of Detail' on it. Those two have been added to all of the vtfs in this pack. This affects how visible they are from a distance and in what quality (in this promo, Petanui in the background should give a hint of what it'll look like).
You'll barely notice it, but it is an improvement.
Also to those who may ask, no, Ocelina and Lavvie here won't be getting these as permanent visual upgrades. They're just fitting characters due to their maturity in the cast for a promo for this, but they'll remain the same
