When I saw Laika Studios had partnered with deviantArt to host the "Story Within" contest, I couldn't be happier.

It is very rare that you see a movie, especially one for kids, come along with a message of loving your enemies and truly forgiving their wrongdoings. Most often, our hero kills their enemy, and that ends their tale. Laika's latest movie chose a different path, and shown that we can learn from the people we make our enemies, and that their stories are worth listening to.

It is easy to demonize people, to blame them for your shortcomings and see them as an obstacle. But the real obstacle is within ourselves, in the internal balance of love and hate for each of us.

Hate cannot be fought with hate, we see this in our lives now more than ever. I wanted to, with this piece, show that love and moving on serves as the one true end, the one true victory.

Thank you, Laika Studios, for giving us a visual masterpiece with such a strong message.
