I was inspired by Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword while making this. I forgot where I got the ornament brush and the other texture brushes I used.

this is cute, but the anatomy looks a little off on it
i don't want to go critiquing it if you don't want, but it may help c:

all there really is to do though is use a lot of references and practice a lot

Really, it's not bad at all.
the shading and feel of it is really nice
it feels royal, hah
the only things that really stand out are the post (which is a cool concept, but a little too much) and the legs and paws
wolves don't really bend that way, unless he's part snake. i'm sure his back would break. they are pretty flat in general, and don't usually curve. of course the pose can be used, but the back looks a little too arched down. also, it may be me, but the way the angle is is confusing. his chest doesnt seem to fit with his body at all :c
the legs apart from the hind one closest to the screen (lets just say that one from the angle is the right one) are pretty skinny and small, if he stood on them they'd likely snap under the weight of his body!
they should be a little fatter, there's a lot of muscle and bone and stuff in them, you know? same with the paws, but looking at them compared to the legs they're in proportion (so if you made the legs bigger, the paws would have to grow too, basically.)
the front right paw looks a bit awkward too, but i can't say much on that other than use references (i'm really bad with that angle too, it's difficult to nail)

Hmm, thats interesting. Especially the part about legs. I cringed a bit whenever you had said he could possibly break something in him. :s With the pose, I wanted to do something different. Something that looked dynamic and unbalance but I guess I achieved that part but in a bad way xD lol I'll keep practicing though (:
