For far too long my desk has been the home of tissue boxes of inconsistent size, color, and even shape. They sit in the corner and mock my decor while simultaneously reminding me each time I grab for a tissue that my nose is a common enemy. It's time to stop that decor mockery!

This is my very first needlepoint piece and I while I starting going "whaaat?" it's all quite understandable now. It's a Mary Maxim kit, you can buy it for yourself right here if you so desire: www.marymaxim.com/teapot-tissu… With my own love of roses (no surprise there) and addiction to teapots (I don't actually enjoy tea) when I saw this I dropped my money faster than people are blinded by my pink glow. I took this with me to work thinking that it'd make a good work project butttttttt then I found myself working on it at home and then it was time for assembly and I couldn't just carry to-and-from work a half-finished box since I'd hate for it to have been crushed. So, it was finished a lot faster than I anticipated and now I have to find a new work project.

It was very relaxing once I got going. The 7 count canvas is the largest (smallest...?) I've ever worked with and with the height of the box only being 37 stitches high I was like "oh" when I got there. It was so fast! The appeal of doing a full tissue box cover in needlepoint rather than cross-stitch is pretty apparent. The circle dodads for the top (not pictured) and the spout were a bit difficult to count for where I was supposed to be taking my needle, but in the end it worked out.

The only bits I felt like I needed extra instruction were for finishing the edges of everything and connecting the panels. The Mary Maxim was pretty vague on how to do that so a little bit of YouTube later and I was right on it. All in all, a very easy and quick project, I'd recommend it for all of you.

Color Total: 8
Size: 9.5 inches spout-handle, 5.5 inches long, 5 inches wide, 7 inches tall
Time: 15.5 hours
7 Count clear plastic canvas

Wow, I haven't seen those tissue box covers in many many years.  I used to make them.  Still have some of the plastic mesh.       I love this design!  At Valentine's Day I made little "bird heads" that when you squeezed their cheeks, their mouths would open and there would be a Hershey's Kiss inside, they were made with 3 little squares.  Made them for Halloween and Christmas also.  I sold them at high school school functions to help raise money for events. I made many Christmas ornaments of all shapes and sizes, just double the design and stuff a little and stitch the edges together.  To this day still have a half finished project that is supposed to be a treasure chest.  I enjoyed making many many things with this mesh, my Mom got me started on it when I was in Junior High.  Oh one design that you may really like is a needle holder.  To rectangular pieces, with whatever design you want on them, stitched together on one of the long sides, the other sides being finished off normally.  Then you hot glue a piece of felt onto the back side of both pieces. (only glue around the edges of the felt.  Then you put a simple yarn tie or ribbon tie on the side and you have a little "pocket book" to store you needles in.  Just stick them into the felt.  I found mine when I moved, still had needles in it from way back.

What can I say...?
You had me at tea!

And who doesn't love roses?  (Although, I have to admit, my personal favourite is blue.)
You are more than welcome, my friend. I really think you did a great job with this piece. And if I ever get adventurous enough, I might order a kit and try it out myself in the future.
