Here's the second piece in the cupcake set!

The original pattern had a strawberry for its button. Normally this would be a reason to celebrate, strawberries are my very favorite fruit after all, but uhm... do you see all that nice, warm orange for the background? Yeeeeah. The strawberry washed right out and blended in, totally unacceptable. Especially since it's meant to be a contrasting piece to the vanilla cupcake (which has a nice orange slice against a blue background). The only solution: find a blueberry.

Do you know how randomly difficult it is to find a blueberry button?! Thank the heavens that Sarah of Fulton and Co. was there to save me. You can see her delightful Etsy shop here: www.etsy.com/shop/FULTONandCO It took a bit of back and forth but we got it done and the button arrived safely and beautifully, I might add.

As before, I made some small alterations to the beads and instead of doing two strands I used three. The whole piece is really solid and I'm really pleased. I like the vanilla's frosting shape better, but I like the chocolate's use of bugle beads for the sprinkles a ton more. I also don't really like how the vanilla cupcake's bottom is yellow, as if the cupcake was just unwrapped, but then the chocolate cupcake has blue like a wrapper. I'm obviously living with it but if I had received these at the same time instead of one after the other I would've probably made a change to vanilla's bottom to be more orange-wrapper.

Overall though I'm super pleased with the set. And I have this random strawberry button sitting over to the side so... I mean... you know what that means, right? Yeah! I'm going to be making a custom pattern combining the vanilla and chocolate cupcake designs to make my own strawberry cupcake!
