Wish i could do traditional abstract -my efforts with real paint and water always turn to mud

It was interesting using the artgraph graphite as a watercolor/ like painting w/ a water soluble graphite pencil only using water and a brush to paint... and mud as you suggested can develop into something different and abstract...

Nice... not what it was intended to represent... its all in the representation perception... thank you... in reality it was a reflections through a glass jar and its shadow as the afternoon sun set...

An owl it is not... nor a mummified ghoul, etc... just a spontaneous moment w/ sunlight passing through a simple etched jam jar I use at work during scheduled breaks to pass the time away.... used ArtGraf graphite, as a watercolor medium. I just followed the light and shadows created on a 5x7 in. Arches watercolor sheet, and played w/ the sepia tone w/ the picture I took. thank you

I didn't mean it was literally an owl! Just that that was what I saw at first. None of us ever know how anyone else sees our art. I have had people see dogs, faces, people etc when I've simply drawn a tree. It happens. I think it's fun.
It's the way our brains work - we see 'faces in things' when they aren't there. Certainly if you are painting something as interesting as reflections and shadows through water and etched glass, all sorts of oddities are bound to appear unintentionally. You didn't paint them; they are not really there; they are all in the mind of the viewer.

True... it's all in the eye of the beholder... I enjoy the comments, and would encourage everyone to really look at everything and appreciate... it all. Their reactions and feedback... priceless

Interesting, and I see what you mean... thank you. But no its not an owl.... it not a mummy or ghoul... I was playing around w/ ArtGraf water base graphite, at work, during a break, late afternoon, an outline the shadows that reflected off and through my glass jar of water I used. It is an old jam jar w/ etched designs... common and it produced this 5x7 in. work. Simple and spontaneous can be fun. Thank you.. Once I took the picture, I played w/ the filters on my photo gallery program and a sepia tone, tint...
