Yeah, I'm late to the bandwagon, but I suppose this could also be sort of a "this is how I would rewrite this character" post.

It was confirmed recently that humans in Sonic's world in the games mainly occupy bigger continents and countries while mobians/anthro characters are the main species on smaller islands and nations. Considering Soleanna is a coastal city, my friends and I decided "ok, what if Elise and her father were Mobians and while there is a human population, there are Mobians scattered throughout the city so Sonic and his friends don't seem as out of place as they tend to do in a lot of the 2000s games".

We decided the Elise and her father would become Brahminy Kites, a type of red-backed sea eagle. This way we can keep in Elises main color schemes (red and white) while also making her a type of bird that can easily translate into our idea for her super form. With Trip being able to transform into a dragon, why not give Elise a phoenix-like super form that appears in the final story once the others gather the emeralds? You could even hint at it being something that happened centuries prior, like that this was an ability the first rulers of Soleanna were given by Solaris that hasn't been seen since none of them have gathered the emeralds since then, and it would also give merit on why Elise (like Blaze) could have an entity like Ibis sealed inside her.
Another idea for this potential rewrite is that rather than kissing Sonic, being able to bring someone who was recently killed back to life so long as their spirit was still around would be an ability her super form would have, transferring the energy from said super form into him and taking her out of it for the final battle but still allowing her to show it off.
It's unknown if she could have this ability in the new timeline, but considering it's implied they erased Solaris from the new timeline back when he was still a small flame (also shown when Elise was a small child), then she could.

I dunno, this is just an idea I had. I've been in a "let's look back at the Sonic stuff I grew up with in the early to mid 2000s" kick since Christmas when my parents got me the Japanese Dub for Sonic X on Blu-Ray, and while I never really had much of a problem with Elise, my main gripes with her was that she was a human who was in love with Sonic (a hedgehog) and her literally just being there as a damsel in distress/girl who kisses protagonist character. Yes we see her be brave as hell, yes she eventually decides to start trying to escape on her own, but I really think a lot more could've been done with her to connect her family more to Solaris/Iblis and we maybe could've even gotten a few levels where we play as her if she weren't a human, like when she and Amy broke out of (or in Amy's case, into) Eggman's base.

I also just think phoenixes (like dragons) are really cool. I'm someone who grew up reading and hearing about mythology from around the world, and considering we finally got a video-game-canon dragon in Sonic (as before we only had the likes of Dulce and her tribe from the SatAM cartoons and the Archie Comics), I think we're long overdue for a phoenix be it a character species or a super form akin to Trip's.

I also plan on making mobian forms for Iblis and Solaris.
