since i don't generally draw flowers, justin (the tattoo artist i'm apprenticing under) had me do a page of roses today. if i'm gonna be a tattoo artist, i really ought to be able to draw roses with my eyes closed. so here ya go, a bunch of roses.

for some of these, i was refrencing tattoo magazines so that i could see what syles were most commonly inked. i altered the design on all of them, but i'm most proud of the rose in the corner that's shaped like a heart, that and the little bud with the dots was done with no refrence at all.

i also used this oppertunity to try out some new shading techniques. since shading is not generally one of my strong points, i'm very proud of the outcome. i wish you could see the detail on the biggest rose, it's shaded entirely with crosshatching. ah well.
