I think I may know how to get transparent pics in SAI. Don't draw on the layer that's there when you open a new canvas and do everything on new layers (make sure your base colours are 100% opacity and shade and all that) then just hide the white BG layer and you should have a transparent image. I hope that helps. I remember opening up an image done in SAI on PS and having to add in a white layer at the bottom so that it wasn't transparent so I'm thinking SAI can do transparency.
