there. i did it. i painted. and it felt great. i hope my absence was worth it.it's a 5x6" wood panel, i got from my art class, i hope to do many more of these. yes i blended
shh acrylics, ball point pen, and paint marker.
this is inspired by and ric stultz.
i'm also giving this to duffzilla, (if he wants it
) for being awesome. encouraging. inspiring. and damn nice.

i love this combination of materials, the wood back ground causes the paint to have a lovely texture, in general your work is totaly awsum, i only stumbled across your page yesterday and started doing a painting inspired by your techniques, it will be posted later on today

For crying in the rain this owns!
To start off, your random uses of mediums for your canvas owns. Granted I've had slight problems with them (this might look better with a bit darker wood) BUT the fact that you took this random piece and made a kickass work out of it makes it so much better. And it makes it so much more "<3 TIM"
Exclamation point shows sick amounts of depth. I actually thought this was 3D when I looked at it on the smaller pic. It is the appitamy of 'exclamation,' as it's depth greatly pushes out in front of Mr. Brightside.
The head is great. As noted by many, the texture is fantastic and gives the fire much more life than it would w/o such care. Nice job adding a different tone/texture to the face. It makes the fire around it feel more more dynamic. The sketchy black edges work very well also and sometimes create depth to the tips of the flames, which I like a lot.
The white outline works well, but I would have been interested to see it with only the white outline around the edges of the head. It probably looks better as it is now, but it was just a thought I had to further make that fire stand out.
Onto the shirt! The spilling out of the red paint really makes that flame feel alive against his blue collar working shirt. The only problems I had with this piece were in the shirt. I don't particularly like the color of the pocket. I think there were some better choices of color there to make it seem less clashy. Also something to consider would be to use a bit of texture to define the armpits and the arms. I do like that you added no depth to the tie though and the lack of collar attached to the tie adds to your style.
Closing random though: very good choice to put the ears on the side of his face. Invisioning the painting without those makes the face lost in the flames.
Nice work on this one bro. Though I liked the message I saw behind the last painting more, this is my favorite one thus far on a purely aesthetic value.

the shirt pocket did bug me too, but i didn't want to play with it anymore
i knew you'd like the blending. i was gonna put some stenciled + signs in the background. oh well, ill do that on my next piece

Ric Stultz is indeed gloriously skilled in the quirky and sullen. You on the other hand, make drawings that i'd want to hug and then possibly dance with.
Unfortunately, for all his brightness it seems that a hug from him would set my face alight.

way to go, pirateboy! i am working up the courage to paint again too. i bought a big book that is just excellent awesome and i am just waiting a liiiittle longer to paint in it. i WILL paint this week though, honestly.
