Description
"Really ___, I need your help," Starla insists. You frown at the phone.
"Last time you said that, we ended up taking on an army and I nearly got my head blown off.... Twice," You remind her.
"Please! This town really needs your help!" She whines.
"Alright dammit, I'll get a plane ticket tomor-"
"Good! Your plane leaves in three hours!"
"Wha- Dammit Starla!"
"See you when you get here~ Love you!"
So that's how you ended up flying to the small secluded island that you had just heard about that day. Needless to say you were not happy by the time you got off the small shaky plane. Starla was waiting with a sign that read 'Best friend and savior!!<3'.
"You owe me so much right now," You growl when you reach her. She shrinks back as your aura lashes at her.
"I missed you too," She says uneasily.
"There better be some good looking guys on this island," You grumble as she leads you to town.
"Actually, we're going to meet one right now," She assures you.
"Right now?! Star-"
"He's cute,"
"I'm gonna start making a list..." You growl. She gulps and leads you to the front of a small University.
"Law!" Starla calls waving toward a lone guy sitting on the stairs. He stands as Starla pulls you over to meet him. His silver eyes flicker to you for a moment. 'Alright Starla, you win this time,' You think, briefly taking in his lean features. "This is the woman I was telling you about!" Starla tells him.
"Ms.___, thank you for coming... I hope she gave you plenty if notice," He comments, holding out a hand to you.
"I hope you don't mean plenty as in ten hours ago," You reply taking his hand. He blinks in slight confusion.
"She said she asked you months ago," He mutters.
"I'd be in a better mood if that were the case," You grumble.
"Well, thank you even more then... You're a good friend to still come," He tells you with a slight smile. Your cheeks warm slightly at how cute he was.
"Anyway.... What's the problem here?" You ask, pulling back your hand. Law pauses and looks at Starla.
"You didn't tell her the reason either?" He huffs. Starla offers a sheepish shrug. He looks back at you. "You're either a really great person, or you're easily manipulated," He breathes.
"Let's stick with great person," You sigh.
"Alright then, please follow me," He tells you, starting for the hospital. You follow after him, glancing around the town which nearly seemed deserted. Law catches you looking around. "They're all hiding inside, they think they'll contract the illness," He informs you.
"Illness?" You echo.
"You'll understand when you see," Starla tells you. With that, they lead you in. Doctors walked around in hazmat suits. law leads you to a window and you look in. The patient had brown patches forming on his skin that looked like bark.
"It takes a few weeks until they are fully covered and stop moving," Law murmurs.
"Anything?" Starla asks when you shift.
"This is new to me," You scoff before boldly walking into the quarantined room.
"Wh-what are you doing! This place is quarantined!" A doctor in a hazmat suit gasps, coming over to you. You calmly push him back by the mask.
"Relax would ya," You huff, carefully taking off a piece of bark from the patient. "I just need this," You add before calmly walking back out.
"She said you were a bit unorthodox, but that still surprised me," Law comments as you head out if the hospital.
"Eh, I like to think I'm above the system.... Anyway, this is no illness," You say, looking at the bark on your hand.
"How can you be so sure?" He asks. You toss up the bark and catch it again.
"This is the bark of a willow tree," You point out.
"You mean-"
"That's exactly what I mean Starla... This is a curse,"
