well, you know... working on this, it made me wonder.. what is real.... are any of us really real to begin with??
no i'm just kidding hahaha. thank you! it was actually a lot of fun trying to smear everything like that, since i usually try to avoid smudging / having these long visible streaks when i color things on my own.

that's what they mean when they say you get so drunk you're totally off your face... it literally comes off of your entire skull, like you've been dead in the water for a week. no water corpse references were used in the making of this particular picture though :, - )  i swear.
but haha thank you! that's really interesting, i never would have seen it like that... i think it's the posture of the other kid's hand that made it look like he was holding up a head to me, but have you ever seen an old mural where the subjects AREN'T doing weird shit with their hands? didn't think so. regardless though i'm glad it ended up looking good, i guess if anything it adds to the entire "what the fuck am i looking at" feeling of the whole picture.
the borders in the original were super cool- they're hard to see in a lot of the photos, but they're essentially that same weird tessellated geode pattern. it was actually really fun trying to recreate it with the vines and other stuff added.

ahh i'm glad someone else even remembers him! he's a pretty cool dude (to be honest i think he's cooler than bacchus... unpopular opinion??) but then again how do you have a god of literally wine and being insane and not have him be fascinating? 
it was fun trying to take that psychedelic aspect into a painting. a lot of the credit goes to my client though, to be honest i'd never have thought of a surreal dream-like version of a villa of the mysteries mural... i did have an absurdly good time working on those melted twisted up faces though. i can't even lie.
thank YOU for such a lovely comment though, it's always nice getting messages from you :,, - ) i'm not worthy...

also yeah jesus, it's weird right? i always use red or purple because i'm a True Edgelord lmao. i'm just relieved i got all the values looking ok, since yeah when's the last time you've seen me use a 90% blue palette hahaha
