Description
A compilation of my contributions to this year's Pokeddexy challenge. The only square I didn't do was "Scariest Pokemon" because I didn't find any Pokemon to be scary in the context of the franchise.
Last year I was getting used to the tablet and relied strictly on the pen tool for drawing. This year, I did a few different things, but I mostly focused on getting used to custom brushes.

Oh, the first time I drew Togekiss was hilarious. It looked like the giant paper plane you describe it as. But I do like the more owl-y approach to its profile that I've seen in fan interpretation, so it was something I decided to run with.
Carbink is indeed a special little thing. Taking inspiration from a carbuncle, it's nice to see other fantastic creatures being integrated in Pokemon outside of European dragons, phoenixes, and the more petite fairy shapes.
As for Yamask? It makes me more sad than afraid. It's in the eyes, man. If a ghost of a human manifests itself as a Pokemon, I interpret that as someone who longed for companionship in their previous life, and being a Yamask is a cruel yet interesting outcome. It's a strange reincarnation, but there's the possibility that you will find a companion in a trainer. And you turn into Cofagrigus, the only Pokemon with four arms certified in The Ministry of Silly Walks .
But, I will say that I have found Pokemon to be scary in the past. The difference is that with the Pokeddexy challenge, I wanted to focus on my experience in the main games. Whenever I had seen a Pokemon I thought was scary, it was presented in the context of a fan project (ex. PMD-E and creepypastas). Giratina used to scare me mainly because of its cry, but the design makes it look very shadowy and cool, not intimidating.

I thought it was a... carbon rock so it's a diamond... except it has a face.
So is using Yamask slavery?
psh ahaha I never got Cofagrigus in Magnagate. That thing was dumb enough before it tried to walk.

I don't think it'd be like slavery. Yamask aren't humans. The entry says they were in a previous life, but they aren't human.

Then that would mean that they chose to be with that Trainer. Having a choice to stay or go willingly wouldn't make it slavery.
That statement is a bit moot, though, if you're the type of person who throws balls at a wild Pokemon until they're caught. But, it's shown in the show that these creatures have a choice whether or not they want to be with their Trainer.
I dunno, my first post was a nice headcanon.
