I'm taking a break from Io, since she's all that I've worked on recently. Don't worry, I'll return shortly and finish her up. But in the mean time here's an in progress shot turned wallpaper if you'd like her on your desk.Since this is an in progress piece, feel free to critique since things are still evolving. The background is still being worked on in particular. Any suggestions would be helpful.
The original photo reference for the pose came from a thread on the Shane Glines drawing board, and was originally based off of a Laetitia Casta picture.

I love the wings, but the lack of nipples is a littl odd.

Good work on this one. I especially like her angsty expression and the wing texture. I think the problem with the background that other commenters have pointed out is the tangency between the circle and the rounded silhoutte of her breast. Their lines come together too closely so it almost looks the circle is on her breast.

Looks excellent. My only critique would be that the back of her hair makes it look like her cranium stretches too far back... Try pulling the hair on the forehead forward more?
Otherwise gorgeous piece. The details on the wings are just amazing.

Stunning work...your persistancy and passion shows through in all of the detail. The monochromed colors bring a completely different sense to this vice the earlier colored version.

Looks great. The only suggestion I have is to add nipples, considering she's naked. Pictures of naked people without nipples or genitalia or where hair, branches or hands conveniently cover them is a pet peeve of mine. Many great works of art have been defaced and ruined over the ages because of such prudishness.

this is amazing work, really cool job on the wings especially. the texturing and colouring's done really well too good stuff!

to me it looks as close to done as you can get everything looks great. it might be a little dark in the upper right, but that's the only thing i would touch. great job!

This is looking better and better.. don't really have anything to suggest. I think the background looks great so far.. doesn't look too prominent at all.

Ooooo...I love the texture on the wings. The skin texture is kinda funky, too. I can't tell if she's nude or just wearing a really really tight skinsuit.
Excellent progress, I'd love to see it finished.

I use a mouse currently. And it's all done in photoshop.
(The mouse is probably why it's taking so goddamn long.)

exadurate the contrast and range of values in the skin... it seems to soft and rendered, but that's just me. nice work ;}

Fox: Actually going to add some "pebbling" in patterns to her breasts and arms and gills later. That should help.
The background is just vaguely roughed in right now, so that I've got something to detail with.

I too think the "back"ground might be a touch overwhelming, but perhaps it won't be so when we can see it in full colour.
Her wings just get better and better.
I know it's kind of late, but it occurs to me that her skin is maybe a little too smooth in comparison to her ultra texturised wings.
Would you consider roughing up her skin a little? Or do you like the contrast?
