i want to do an original design but i want it in a similar style to the one you've done as it will be for logo purposes so i don't want any plagiarism issues

nah im creating a page mock up and applying it to a css sheet we've been designated as part of a module on my course but by the way they're pitching it to us this will be a portfolio site to apply in the real world, but if you are looking for a website designer though i have a very good friend who does it for a living...

Are you in school for web design/dev or is it just something that you're learning on your own, Onyx?

I'm currently at university so its part of the course but next year i have to decide whether i want to major in web design or 3d animation but at the moment i'm not sure, i'm going to see how both of the modules go and decide from which one i enjoyed the most.
How long have you been doing web design?

Maybe it's a coincidence, but when i transferred schools to the one I'm at now I made the same decision! It was a toss up between computer animation and web design! I'm glad I went with the web design personally. I don't think I would have been happy with computer animation. I really like the flexibility and the mix of coding and designing that I get with Web. It keeps it fun and I really like seeing a site come together. I think that if I'd gone into computer animation I would have a lot less creative freedom and probably make less money in the end.
I'm still in school. I have almost exactly one year left until I get my degree.
Well, I'd love to hear what you decide to do for next year! If you go web please feel free to contact me anytime - I'd always love to help! Not that I'd mind hearing from you if you decide to go 3D - I just wouldn't be much help!

To be honest i do like the design aspect of web design its just the coding which is raising my blood pressure lol, its my first time using css and i reckon if i can get the hang of it then it might swing it for me, saying that though i know 3ds Max isn't the easiest piece of software to use either haha
I appreciate the support and if i do go down the route of web design i will definitely keep in contact, good luck with that final year!!

In that case my tip would be to isolate the image you're going to vectorize in Photoshop or something. Import the isolated image into Illustrator. Lower the opacity of the layer a little so the blacks aren't totally black and than lock that layer. Create a new layer and do make your lines on that layer. Are you familiar with bezier curves and manipulating the handles on anchor points?
