Description It's the first time John has been back to London since he retired from the military. The brisk air crashes and slices against his cheeks and his hand is cold as he holds his cane. He's looking over the city from where he's standing and breathing in the crisp, industrial air. It's a relief from the warm, dry air that smelled of gunpowder and smoldering skin. He starts to take a step.

He surprises himself when he knows exactly where to go. The phone that Harry gave him is vibrating in his pocket but it's too cold to see who's trying to annoy him on his first day back. Seeing the normal, peaceful faces of civilians is relieving from seeing the fear struck faces of his fellow fighters.

As he's passing the various shops and happy people he realises that he is hungry. There was a nice looking Italian restaurant he remembers that he passed shortly before. When he opens the door the warmth of the heater hugs him and he breathes out a comfortable sigh. A nice man with long hair and a raspy voice tells him to seat himself and he does so anxiously: he is hungry and tired.

Upon receiving his menu he can feel someone staring at him. He glances up and notices a man sitting by the window with his fist against his chin, supporting his head as his elbow rests on the table. There is no food and no drink at his table, he just seems to be staring at John. Feeling awkward he caught this man staring he looks down back to his menu. He is thankful when a waitress comes by him to take his order. He takes as long as he can without annoying the nice woman to order so he could be distracted from the man's stare. When the woman leaves he can't help but look back up.

He studies the man: his hair is dark, possibly black and matted in a somehow composed mess of curls. His skin is lily white and his eyes are sharp but a soft light blue or possibly grey. By how tall his torso is sitting down John thinks maybe that he is tall by nature. He can't tear his eyes away from this mysterious man. He feels embarrassed that the two men are just staring at each other. He can see the other man's eyes darting all over him as the waitress comes with his food. Once more he is thankful.

Slowly John picks at his food suddenly more curious than hungry. He feels like he's in high school again: the mysterious attractive girl that is staring at him from the other lunch table, surrounded by the popular girls but she only chooses to stare at him. Then he stops chewing for a moment: this isn't a girl. This is a man. He glances back up just to check. Yeah, he is definitely male.

Flustered and frustrated that he is actually somewhat attracted to a man John stuffs more food in his mouth to distract him. It doesn't work that well: he can still feel the stare. He can't stand it. He can feel his cheeks turn red and his heart race. What is it about the man that gets to him like a school boy? He doesn't know. And as an excuse to look back at the gorgeous man he tries to figure this out.

Now the dark man has lowered his hand and he can see the contours of his face. He is beautiful, and not in the attractive way. Well, yes, of course he is beautiful in that way but also in the artistic way. The way his face curves and the structure of his whole body is just… Beautiful. John can't look away.

As he finishes and his food is taken away he orders a drink just so he can sit there longer and stare. The man hasn't eaten or drank anything since John had been there. The purple shirt the man wears is tight on his chest and the slacks on his legs are dark and create the image of a slender man. John is smitten, that is the only word to describe this.

He sips casually at his drink and forgets the embarrassment of just simply staring. The other man seems to do it often: there is no colour on his face and no expression upon it either. His hands move only every few minutes and at the moment they are pressed together as his chin rests on the tips. His sharp eyes are on John and John can't break free. He feels like a prey and this man is a hawk. He is stuck in the gaze of the mysterious creature has captured him in.

Eventually when John is out of his drink the mysterious man rises. He is tall just as John had expected and even more handsome now that he can see him fully. The man takes a dark trench coat and a purple scarf and delicately wraps the scarf around his neck and swiftly applies his coat. He is still looking at John when something John thinks is a smile appears on the man's face as he disappears out the door and into London.

John rubs his face as he pays for his meal. What a strange first day back.
