Description
It had only been the start of Loki and Thor not sharing the same room anymore. Odin had thought they were getting too old for it, and thought it best if they finally got their own rooms, now reaching almost teen hood. Loki had been fine with it, almost happy, now not having to deal with Thor flying onto the top bunk and utterly destroying Loki underneath. Indeed, now he could read his books and practice magic without Thor constantly trying to talk to him and ask him what he was doing. Now Loki's room was only slightly cluttered, his desk filled with books and small scorch marks on the wall from when he got angry and magic was too convenient at his hands.

But there was one thing Loki had to admit, and that was that his room was eerily quiet now. He was so used to having to tell Thor to shut up or to try and cover his ears to prevent from being kept up all night from his snoring that now he often found himself almost talking to the darkness. He would curse himself silently and roll over, and if there was one thing Thor would never know, it was that he missed his brother's company.

Loki had maybe counted a week in before he could hear Thor trying to tiptoe to his room. He wasn't exactly quiet about it, and he almost always ran off once he got to the door. But tonight was different. Loki was nearing sleep when he heard the door to his room being slowly opened. The light hit his eyes and he hissed, as if he had never seen the light before. It was only a sliver, but he saw the shadow of Thor's growing hair peer through.

"Loki… Can I come in?" His voice came out small and scared, and as Loki peered over he saw Thor shivering with his fingers curled around the door. Christ, wasn't he older?

Angry he was woken (or at least disturbed from almost being asleep), Loki's only response was a spare pillow being flung towards Thor, smacking him right in the face. He groaned, and when Thor still stood there he shouted, "No, Thor, get out!" He tried to bury himself back into his pillow, but the light still pried him, and he could still feel Thor standing there.

It took a few moments, but there was a small voice that pierced Loki's ears, "But… Lokiiiiii…" It was whiney and it made Loki growl, but he rolled over anyways. He saw from one of his eyes (the other he had covered with his tired arm) that Thor was peering over the pillow Loki had thrown with hopeful, tired eyes. It looked like he hadn't slept all night, or any night for that matter.

Loki stared, trying to ignore the ever growing annoying light, but finally gave in. He had missed Thor's company, and even though this might be too close for comfort, he sighed. "Fine," he said angrily as he rolled over to give Thor space, "Just don't tell dad." He could feel Thor tiptoeing over to him, so he quickly added, "And close the door!"

From behind him he heard the click and saw from closed eyes the light disappearing, and felt the mattress press down beside him. Thor was being unusually quiet, even for being tired, and Loki was careful to listen to his breathing. He sounded incredibly tired and just overall exhausted, even with the way he moved clumsily into the bed. He could feel Thor's gaze upon him, and even though his brother couldn't see him, he kept an angry face on anyways. He wasn't about to show weakness, not right now when Thor, the strong one, was being weak.

When it happened, Loki was only half expecting it. The touch was different, more tender than he was used to, Thor wrapped his arms around Loki's waist. What was stranger was the way Thor buried his face into the back of Loki's neck. Loki's first reaction was to push his brother away and hiss at him to leave, but then he warmed to Thor's touch, and his expression softened. He realised he had been wanting this, missing his brother, and eased into his touch, getting used to the way Thor's fingers would delicately hold the folds of Loki's shirt.

"Thanks, Loki," Thor murmured into Loki's neck, his breath ticklish. Loki was going to respond, but he realised his brother was already asleep by the time he had found the words to say he was welcome. Thor's even breathing and lessening grip was enough to tell Loki Thor was already out for the night. He mumbled it anyways and was asleep in minutes.

Thor would come back the next night, and many after.
