Description Some story I'm thinking about making in some form, haven't decided on form yet, though. So there are probably gonna be a bunch of images like this around the same theme as I try and figure out what the hell I'm doing with it. Hmmmm.... projects. :3

I owe massive, massive thanks to Becca, aka Susan, who sent me Disturbed in the post (ain't she wonderful?) and thus allowed me to work again! I can't work without music... I just can't. I've tried, but meh. All my tunes are at home, but I'll hopefully have them in about a month. AGES. XD So until then, Susan has totally saved my life, without realising it I bet. You rock, honeybunch! *huggles*

Corel Painter 9, wacom intuos 2, and around five hours or so. First thing I've done since getting to the States!

really nice work...unique and different from those common high-detailed digital artworks. this look much more like a painting than those high-detailed kinda painting that can only be done digitally

oh, thanks! I really enjoyed making this one, too! I love throwing a bunch of texture into paintings... really not a fan of those ultra-smooth looking things.

Transformers is an AWESOME movie! I had the best time watching that! I laughed so hard....! My only criticism was, it was maybe a tad too long. If they'd shaved 20 minutes off it, it would have been perfect! XD

Very very nice! You pulled off these ruins very well, and along with the coloring, that set a very shadowy and cool mood to it!

In my head though, it's not like he's been there ever before, nor does he want to be there. The way he's looking at me, feels like I'm looking through the eyes of the person who brought him there. Some crazy in-love girl with a taste for very weird romantic spots, a criminal on the run that has him for a hostage, some historian who needed an assistant to investigate some god-forsaken place... All sorts of weird possibilities!

pixieface In reply to Raphir [2007-12-31 17:28:03 +0000 UTC]

Those are all cool ideas! The character himself is someone I know quite well - in fact, probably the oldest character I've ever written, and someone I almost never draw. I've drawn him maybe three times in the ten years or so he's existed! I don't know his face too well, that's the problem... and he's never wanted to be pinned down to a structure, I guess.

It's very him to not want to be there, of course. He's a grumpy, grumpy sod. Spends a great deal of his life doing things he'd prefer not to be doing. :3 And he's really not very good at looking at the big picture, either, so I can think of several people who would have brought him here for a talk, or something, and received a grumpy reception. XD

Hehehe, I figured something of the sort... That's why, to me, the funniest possibility would be that of the criminal taking him hostage. I picture this big guy with his big knife hearing all about how he's an completely incompetent kidnapper out of his hostage, and being unable to argue with any of it. Poor kidnapper!

Anyways, he seems to be a cool character, although he might be a bit hard to materialize. Heck, these grumpy characters are as difficult to work with as actual grumpy people! Hehehe!

I adore the sky, here. Great work
I can't work with music any more! It stops me from being able to concentrate ... the only time I can work with music on is if I'm colouring

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pixieface In reply to kandinsky-prince [2007-12-31 17:25:28 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha! Oh, well. Different strokes. I just can't concentrate without music, which is odd. It drives me. Something like my drawing is on a tv show or part of a movie or something - the making of... heh. I dunno. But it makes it all seem cooler and more flowing and more natural, and I don't get bored so quickly (which is a perpetual problem with me and my art).

The sky is practically the only bit of this painting I did with the smudgy artist's oils - the rest is all palette knives, pretty much. :3 I went for grey UK sky. The kind I don't see much any more!!

oooh, neat! Tell me? (I'm pretty much decided on my own story, just figuring out setting, etc, atm, so I promise I won't steal your ideas). I'd love to hear what it made you think!

tygrax In reply to pixieface [2007-12-31 06:28:15 +0000 UTC]

Odd to go back even though it wasn't that long. But when I look at the picture and also at the man I see two faces. The one that is standing in front of us, and the one that is hideing the real reason to why he's there.

Either it could be a church where a horrible accedent happened. A refuge where many died from a war from long ago or something like that.

I'm not quite sure anymore on the percice thoughts that I was thinking when I first looked at the picture, but I'm sure after staring at it again and then closing my eyes another story would come to me.

That's basically the most flattering thing ever. I love that it seems like there's a story, because stories are what always inspire my art... and I love to hear what it makes other people think! Thank you!
