ok, so here's the other idea i had. this one isn't as dark, but it's still along the same lines as the last one. although she's probably going survive this one....i'd love to hear the thoughts you have about this one vs. the other one. it's just a wip and not fully rendered or any post on it yet either. well, some color correction.so let's hear it! the good, the bad the whatever...

Hey there,
(Not a critique... but just providing my 2cents as per your request my friend.)
To tell you frankly... I was ok with the outfit of the original girl, only did not like the C4 stuck to her... this one is impressive, but the green glow of the earlier version was more eerie and I loved it....
- the gun is fine, but what did you want her to be... an ordinary folk wanting to make a defiant act? Did you want her to be formidable as an opponent or desperate and suicidal. If she carried a kitchen knife for instance... you get the feeling she is going against insurmountable odds, as compared to a Gun. Maybe a rebel alliance with a Gun is ok... but definitely a grenade would come in handier.
- The soldiers are more crisp so there is more to see, but if it had the earlier element with a bit of bokeh feel... it would look more interesting... plus I do not think all of them should be concentrating on her - like the convoys of soldiers passing by a village conquered and they just have no time to bother about the peasants. Leave them unsuspecting... maybe only the commander is suspicious.
- a bit of smoke trail or dust or dirt will be good for a sense of realism... cuz at the moment it looks too pristine.
- I love the background that you have set up... reminds me of WW2 scenes... it is perfect.
Other than that your main character's pose is wonderful... but again too clean, you have a knack for great post work, so I guess I feel as though you have given this a shove out of the production line a wee bit too early.
I do hope that I have been brutally honest as possible. But please this is to your discretion and you are a damn good artist and most of what I have said must've already been in your head.

Okay, the other one was darker in terms of what it was depicting, but also more believable for me. (And as credentials, I did three combat tours with the U.S. Army, so take that for what it is worth.) The thing that makes this a no sell for me is the gun. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. It's way too big to use single handed, but doesn't look like something one can use two handed. The other one was quite realistic to me.

the gun is wonky, but i'm not too sure that it's too big...she seems pretty strong... the silencer can be removed, but even without it, it still looks like a hand canon!
the story is that she's been pushed too far by the occupation and desperate times call for desperate measures...well, in a very small nutshell that's the story...
i love feedback. it helps me find a good balance. i don't always rely on my ideas alone. it creates too small of a bubble and i don't always push myself creatively. walt disney always said: it's tough to choose between one. i love to hear what the community has to say. everyone can contribute to something in someway.
