I image that shiftrys lives in symbiosis with a particular plant that grows it’s roots into the shiftry’s skin. The shiftry will give the plant water and nutritious and the shiftry will get some energy and protection in return. Meh, I just can’t resist
I maybe I shouldn’t coloured the picture, it might looked better just BW.

Wonderful renderation. I especially love how the feet have been done. Not everyone would think of turning Japanese style shoes into hoof-like digits, now would they?

Your Shiftry has a goblinesque look to it, which is what the creature is based on anyway. Very nice, I especially like the the shoulder plates.
