Description Dik-LEN-vaY   drew me 5 chibi commissions for   badges. While this initial offer of adorable art for the low low price of a cake badge is over, she is offering $7 commissions

Here's the third one. This is a baby faced lill Matteo without his mask on. I expected a few things, since she was being very mysterious about all this, and it was fun to see what she'd come up with, but a maskless Matteo definitely surprised me!

Please support the original Deviation here !

Elena said that this version of Matteo is based off of this artwork. While it's certainly interesting to see other artist's takes on Matteo, and to even use artwork of him for inspiration, this old image of Matteo doesn't quite portray the unmasked version of him quite right. His hair looks more blond due to the way the original artist drew it. Matteo's hair is a brilliant silver color. I remember telling her that, but what I think she did was drew the hair to reflect a warm light. But yeah Matteo's hair is naturally silver, even when he was young it was silver. That's how Lemurian hair is. Just imagine someone with grey hair, that has a natural sheen to it. Still, he's super cute! Look at his wittle gwumpy face! He's so baby faced to, that to me is funny because Matteo is old, so its fun seeing wittle baby Mattee-boy.   Thank you Elena, this one really surprised me!

Omg, I don't think I have ever seen Matteo without his mask. Kudos to the artist!

There's a couple depictions of that.

This is one of the oldest pictures of Matteo ever drawn. The artist who did it isn't even on DA anymore.

This commissioned piece was inspired by the above one. I wanted both matteo and an unmasked version in the picture, so the artist put Matteo taking his mask off in the background. It was an interesting compositional problem to solve and I think she did a good job with it.

Then when I built Matteo, The Great Entropy. I built him with interchangable faces so that his human face and him wearing a mask could be swapped out, much like accessories on an action figure. So there's now a lego representation of what Matteo looks like without the mask on. Though here he's much more unkempt because he's a pirate. When I build King, Matteo, I'll probably do this again, but show a clean shaven and well groomed version of him.

You know, I always find it strange when I see the face of a masked person. I get to used to the mask that I think it is part of them.

The first drawing you mentioned looks awesome. From what I can see, he has long, light colored hair. What phase of his life was that?

I never noticed Matteo's face in the background of that 2nd one. I only noticed his masked from. As you said, the composition is clever.

Pirate Matteo I have seen before. The face is interesting.

As a side note, I have never shown the face of my PD. He does, in fact, have a face under is birb mask. And it is not pretty. He only has his personality to get a GF.

I think a lot of people do that. Its some kind of impostor syndrome or something.

Yeah Matteo would actually have silver hair. It'd look like grey hair or white hair from old people, but it has a kind of sheen to it and its a bit darker. His people had silver hair, and highly saturated eye colors. That's the only physical distinctions a Lemurian has over a regular human. Its really just like how certain traits are unique to certain races, like how black people tend to have black curly hair, or Asians have long black hair, yet Europeans are very mixed because of higher rates of intermingling. Oh I don't know, that first drawing was made so long ago, I didn't have much figured out. A friend and I were just trying to figure out what he'd look like as a human and his girlfriend at the time drew this.

I guess its something you've got to look out for.

Ah okay, so is he like "Deadpool" levels of ugly? Or just not a handsome fella under the mask? Hey man, personality and smarts are all I've really got to woo the ladies to. Nothing wrong with that.

If you call disfigurement "dead pool" level, then yes. He really does not care how he looks because he is really just a puppet for a renegade demon. All the demon needs is a athletic body to interact with the real world. So he is pretty much a "butter" face. I have not posted his face anywhere mostly because it is a huge plot point in my story. The only people that know what he looks like under his mask is his GF, and me.

Speaking of which, his girlfriend is the only one that finds him handsome. They have a relationship almost like Jim and Pam from The Office (Have u watched that show? I loved it and I recommend it!).

Ah okay that makes sense. he doesn't mind being a puppet for a demon? Does that at least come with health care benefits?

Nope sorry, never watched that show. It never really appealed to my sense of humor, at least the first season didn't, so I didn't get into anything later. Maybe it gets better, but I don't know. I couldn't tell you.

Well he never consented to begin with. If fact, Intara (The demon possessing PD) stole a body from an angel. Long story short, there was an angel doing holy things while possessing a 7 foot tall, muscular body. Fueled by his ambition, Intara hijacked the body, and kicked out the angel (The rightful owner). Now he held the reigns. He had a puppet all to himself to manifest his powers to the real world.

Does it come with health care benefits? Oh yes it does! The Plague Doctor can heal himself and revive himself. It does not matter how bad the injury, he can heal up good as new. Heck, there can just be dust left, and he can revive himself from that. This also means he cannot die from old age. Chronologically, he is about 700 years old. Physically, he is around his late 20s. He is basically immortal as long as Intata is hitting the reset button. With all that said, he is a slow healer. He is not terribly slow, but he is also not amazingly quick. You can slow him down considerably by shooting out his knee caps with a shot gun. You cant run if your legs don't work! Lol.

The Office does get better after season 1. Many regard season 1, 8, and 9 as the worst seasons, and I agree. I ain't going to lie, there were some funny bits from season one. Its just that the later seasons (2-7) are feel more complete and had more memorable gags.

Ah I see, so he was always just a meat puppet for someone else. That kinda sucks. So is his personality the demon who's posessing him or what?

Hmmm So what are his weaknesses or shortcomings? I had to do this with matteo to make him not super OP and Mary Sue, but its worth doing. I think what better defines a character and makes them well rounded is determining what they aren't, instead of what they are. its Easy to make them good at everything and have no real vulnerabilities. But its a lot more difficult I've found to make them flawed and have weaknesses that could be exploited. That's kinda the problem with Superman, only one thing affects him, and its a trope that gets tired pretty quick.

Yes, the Plague Doctor's personality it entirety Intara (The Demon). To expand on that, Intara's character develops over time. He was very egotistical before his rebellion. And it's because of that that he wanted to surpass his master to become the new devil. As you can suspect, he was put in his place. Or in this case, another place where he could never lay a hand on the devil again. A certain blue planet became his new prison. He cannot return to Hell. This part is based off the origin of the devil in the Christian Bible. With his pride broken, he started to change. He put away his pride and replaced it with ambition.

Well as I've said before, he is a little slow. Both in terms of healing himself, and a running. But there is a reason for this and it is not for his huge size. The Devil handicapped him by making any body Intara wanted to possess resist most commands. While the Intara has improved his control vastly, the body is not (and never will be) at its full potential. That's why he is slow at running, and is not as agile as others even though his body is capable of doing so much more. Let's say that he is at 10% performance when my story begins.

Furthermore, Intara can now feel pain. Long story short, demons can never feel pain. So to further handicap the renegade, the devil made it so that even of Intara does get a body, he will feel the pain the body goes through. Every little paper cut, every broken bone, every heartburn Intara will feel. Intara was very afraid when he first felt pain. It was humbling for him. Even if he heals himself, he still has to feel the pain.

But there is a silver lining. He can now feel what the body feels as, for example, happiness, and excitement. But more importantly, affection. In other words, he can actually love. A feeling he did could never understand unless he felt it.
