It's little idea I've been struck with while watching "Spiderman: Far from Home". They managed to fix this new MJ from "edgy, insufferable bitch" to pretty decent character, to the point that I started to actually root for her, and while she'll probably stay civilian sidekick like Ned or they'll dust off for her another old comic superhero persona (I've heard some rumors about 'spinneret'?) Spiderman:FFH actually had some elements that would make cool, fresh sidekick; recurring "Black Dahlia", being symbol of murder, MJ running to help spidey being just powerless normie, armed with antique morningstar... and thus my idea of sidekick/ heroine "Black Dahlia" was born. (to my knowledge, there was no such Marvel hero, yet?)

I totally don't have any knack for designing superhero costumes, but final concept is... let's say it's ok. I wanted mix of protective gear (army boots + some armor fitting morningstar) and dress in colors of actual black dahlia flower (I think it's called "burgundy"? manly color blindness, dammit ). Also, I had no special idea for collar, but then came up with fabric halfmask solution, kinda matching spidey's spandex style, giving at least symbolic identity protection. While ordinary morningstar seems more fitting for small, neighbourhood missions (unless someone is hawkgirl, of course), rather than current situation in MCU, with no avangers to deal with cosmic threats, Peter Parker with help of Stark industries arsenal and own genius prolly wouldn't have problem with cooking up fitting upgrade.
