The night sky lit up, and a swarm of luminary specks circled The Moon Bear.
Ursus knew the aura of something unwelcome the moment it hit his tongue.
In the fading hues before him, he squinted, narrowing pupils to slits in hopes of sight. A bright spiraling stream across the sky.
He recognized this trail of light; its beam swirled into bright embers following wherever it went. The inanimate beam only revealed itself to him once something needed to happen. It reeked of force, and the colors bled into the sky. The bears gaze was fixated on the light, so perceptual, it seemed to listen for the beam to speak. The light dispersed blue sparks, engulfing the trailing spiral.
With this response, Ursus dipped his head solemnly. The Moon Bear understood.
He knew what he sought, and the task at hand wove into familiarity once more. Pangs of a powerful hunger clawed at his body and mind.
If he were the trickster, as told in the wolves' tales, he would need to work quickly.
