Description
For Johnson&Wales University Sugar Artistry class... my pastillage showpiece.All that gold is piped in royal icing and then painted over with gold dust. Yes, there are a few mistakes. Flames are pulled sugar, charred branches are melted sugar poured over ice.
Surroundings removed in Photoshop.
About eight inches tall.

this is very well done, I'm trying to figure out this whole pas tillage thing myself. I painted on a tiny little square using liquid color, the detail disappeared and the color faded slightly. I read somewhere the other day that you're not even supposed to use liquid on pas tillage as it seeps through and bleeds a little. Your royal icing is an excellent replacement for detail.

The pastillage itself is pale yellow and the orange is airbrushed on, with the feather shapes on the chest and yellow areas on the head masked out with sticky notes beforehand. After peeling that off I applied red gel coloring with a small brush for additional dimension, before the royal icing details.

This is beautifull and amazing, I cant believe this is made out of edible parts O.o
It would be a shame to eat something like this.

It's only technically edible... it wouldn't be very good to eat if you tried. Pastillage will break your teeth.
