"My dream is to become a doctor," the girl had whispered. A shy smile lifted the corners of her lips, but I could tell she was still lost inside.

And now, at the time of farewell, I held her hand one last time and gave it an encouraging squeeze, wishing her all the best.
The girl smiled back. Shining in her eyes was a glimmer of self-confidence that wasn't there before.

"You know, sunsaeng-nim(an honorary term for a nurse/doctor/teacher), if you ever happen to be working at this hospital in the next few years..."

A knowing look was in her eyes, and I understood what she meant to do with her future.

...perhaps fate will let us meet again someday."

Perhaps one of the most lasting memories I will carry with me throughout my life is my brief meeting with a certain patient at the child and adolescent psychiatric ward.

I took a great interest in her because I saw a lot of myself in her patient history - top grades, hardworking, kind and amiable; the only difference would probably be her lack of self-esteem, which was what caused her depression and suicide attempts. Whenever I came to the ward for my clinical practices, she would always be sitting on the sofa in the day room with a book in her hands, and I would sit beside her and ask her what it was about (I think I may have been a bit annoying in that sense, sorry not sorry), and then we'd start talking about other stuff as well. She also seemed delighted to have so much in common with me - she'd ask me how I spent my high school days, how I prepared for my college entrance exams and what college is like and such. I'm happy to have gotten the chance to fill her with hope and encourage her in many aspects, but above everything else I was simply thankful that she was there, sitting beside me in conversation, whole and healthy. It still gives me the chills to imagine that this girl had been on the edge of the top of a building, not once but twice, seriously contemplating whether to end everything or not, and I'm so very glad that her parents decided to bring her to our hospital before it was too late ;v;

The last part of the short dialogue above is what she told me on my last day at the ward, and it still kinda makes me feel weirdly happy, like we really just might meet again... not as a nursing student and patient at the hospital, but as a registered nurse and medical/nursing student on the same medical campus. (I'd told her about our College of Nursing and how it could be a second choice for her if she wasn't confident about getting into our university's College of Medicine. She seemed interested e u e) It'd be wonderful if I ever saw her again outside the hospital, but of course I shouldn't be dreaming fantasies ahahaha-- I'd love it if that really happened though ;v; Whatever road she ends up taking, I'm sure she'd do well once she recovers and goes back to a normal life! She's quite a nice person and I'm always praying for her well-being //v\\

The title comes from a song sung by Megurine Luka of the same title ... it's the first song that came to mind when I first saw this girl, because of its title and also because I listened to it a lot when I was in 1st and 2nd year of high school, so lots of nostalgia there///
