Description

Well it's been a while since I've done a GIF image of a FNaF Location, I thought it was time to make another one, this time based on the FNaF movie photos of the restaurant itself.

Since it’s now March, the FNaF movie have been filming for about a month now and they seemed to have made great progress and of course the inevitable set photo leaks because no matter how hard you try to keep things under wraps, these photos are going to make their way to the internet.

With everything I’ve seen so far, it’s looking pretty good, especially the restaurant itself, it’s colourful and has a unique design that isn’t just based off a Chuck E Cheese location, it has no windows (I guess that’s a Fazbear Tradition) and the sign also looks good, sure the Freddy drawing looks crude but I think that’s the point, it’s based on the Chuck E Cheese 1994 logo which has a similar art style, I also found out the Freddy face is traced, traced over official artwork at least (can you imagine if it was fan work that was traced, THAT would be terrible), artwork done by a… certain FNaF artist that got let go recently.

I do like how they’re trying to go for the style of the original 3 games, because it’s feels like it’s been so long since we got something like that, honestly I miss that original style, atmosphere, tone, paranormal and story, this was a time where story was much simpler and in my opinion… better, No Remnant, No Agony, No Ennard, No Illusion Disc, No Robot doublegangers, No books and No Afton family, the world had a suspension of disbelief and actually felt somewhat believable and grounded, it wasn’t perfect as FNaF’s worldbuilding have never been good but had a coherent narrative and it felt like it has some rules, the series now feels like a antithesis to this.

The FNaF universe feels more like a cartoon and a world without rules that doesn’t care about the suspension of disbelief, taking away the mystery and paranormal horror of the story in favour of Science Fiction explanations like mad scientist, magic soul metal, brain scrabbling discs and broken/over-power technology that does whatever the plot wants, and these storylines have gotten ridiculous.

William Afton is probably the perfect embodiment of this shift, going from a mysterious, scary and interesting Jack the Ripper style serial killer to a cartoony mad scientist super villain with an evil laboratory who wants immortality and is jealous of Henry or something but just come off as a bit of a pathetic loser…

I know there are people that like this shift, but I think at least for the first movie, it has to develop it’s universe out slowly overtime and not get into all this weirdness right out the gate, it has to have crystal clear established rules and worldbuilding that doesn’t rely on reading dozens of novels to have a basic understanding and rules that aren’t too vague so they can be bent however the writer wants.
