Michael Afton has done everything his father has asked him to, setting the Funtime animatronicsΒ free and dismantling the old animatronics, but now he has payed the ultimate price, getting sprung-trapped and being trapped in Fazbear's Fright for 30 years.Surviving the fire that destroyed the Horror Attraction, Michael is now free, he and his deceased siblings only have one thing left to do, to find the person responsible for all the trouble that has happen throughout the years, their father: William Afton.

I always thought the older brother ended up possessing Foxy because I thought William Afton killed him and his friends for what they did to his youngest son(fnaf 4 child). But after seeing the cutscene and thinking about it for a while, maybe the the ghosts that possessed Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy were different kids. Also I think it's possible that the bad ending of the FNAF 3 is the cannon ending because the spirits that possessed Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, and the Marionette thought that Michael was Mr. Afton and after Michael "died" in the Spring Bonnie suit, the spirits weren't at rest because they didn't kill Mr. Afton. So I'm thinking that if Michael finds and maybe kill William Afton then he and all the souls of the murdered children will finally be at peace.

I don't think William would kill his own son even after what happened to his youngest son and I think Michael, his brother and sister have nothing to do with the five missing children, their story is separate from the original 3 games. If the children are still restless after FNaF 3 this might explain the PhantomΒ animatronics and where they came from.
