Emer is Cuchulain's (the national hero of Ireland) wife. Funny how in other Medieval epic tales, the women are meek and fairly in the background, while in Irish tales they teach warriors and are quite witty.
I love your style; it is quite original. The traditional border is what makes the image "pop." What medium(s) do you use?

Rightly so. It probably has to do with the fact that the Irish tales, especially the CuChulain cycle, are very connected to their Iron Age past and thus hold women in very high regard. Christian corruption of the tales was slight and not as pervasive as in mainland tales.
I use pencils on bristol (lots of erasing) and then finish with different sized pens ranging from tiny to brushes.
