Have just another idea for this line of Fakemons I've been doing recently!. The last one I've had was of a rival for yourself, Zahary .
This would be the first gym leader for this region fundamented in "being the first gym leader"; quote having more weight between lines.

For this Australian-esque region as I left to understood on my last drawing, I actually felt like putting more focus on Western and Northern australia rather the rest, more well-known southeast Australia, in many ways because of the closeness to the Polynesian islands and in a way or another, Kanto and Jotho 😝

"The first gym leaders" are actually the ones most of people recommend between voices to challenge, be it by it's novice, less dexterity or softer nature with newbie trainers.
I want to relate it in many ways to how in the anime on it's first season portray Brock and Misty on charge of the gym leaders felt rather like a heavyweight; So with our character Carina who is to replace now his old father on post

Dilemma being she's far from his father's brilliant and a competent level as a trainer!, if she is not to catch up on time with such title. Their gym would to be closed.

Irony being this two were stronger than her and so couldn't do gym leader lackey things, she didn't have any puzzles because of this!!. That alone should leave you to understand the state the gym was now.

Eventually she do would come to speak us, as is due. Requesting to fight some time after and during daytime if is plausible!.
Depending on how you got along with Zachary up until then, he between giggles whispering you do it on night as he suspected she of making use of weather on her favor.

So my conception of difficulty, where I made of the player a punch bag pinata, but then reveal that defeat made a pinata effect of giving you more tools to win!!. And that having allies is the easing part as she would make sure a wild Pokemon didn't sweep you into the civilization again 😍

She being given a growth rate significatively superior to the average player, so, technically she being your more light hearted rival stereotype with a similar level to you!. Zachary being the mean stereotype of rival but way stronger than you both for most of the game!

If her Cherrim it's to fight during the day, instead of having sunny day it'll have morning sun.

Apart of giving you it's badge, she'll gift you by winning of with the TM of dig, and if you lost to her, having the chance to see his father and he giving you the TM for Volt switch.
Plus a story event where she'll show you where to find and have a set battle with the same species of tiger beetle larva Pokemon she has! , they're otherwise rare

Also, as it comes from me other gym leader ideas; I thought about a Queensland surfer, who in a similar manner to Brawly being pals with Bruno. This surfer would also be friends with Marlon and perhaps Brawly himself!. Being that state seemingly a great touristic point... I'd won't skimp on showing foreign trainers!

He might be both proficient on water and plant types, that's because he's a Pokemon ranger!. And a aquatic one on that, he veils for that is the shoreline, the largest line of coral reefs on the whole world!

All irrisory and funny light hearted characters that don't even mind of being defeated, they rather find fun on how a zigzagoon tries to pursuit it's tail and put themselves trought just as irrisory challenges to have but fun!

If Nemona comes to represent a player having a "new game" after years and Zachary one getting into competitive. This guys come to represent the ones that pursue further challenges, "lockes", by simple fun!

This 5 as well are the hyperbole of a trainer!!. Have you see how in the Pokemon world are martial artist that you swear could knock out a Machoke, Witches that could exorcist a Haunter of this realm and that prove the Kadabra becoming kid is rather an allegory to real life cases?
