Description A golden-haired seductress rises from the sea and wraps her arms around the young fisherman.

So entranced by her unimaginable beauty, he doesn't notice her serpent-like tail tightening around his leg.

She whispers in his ear, "Why do you take these poor creatures from their home?"

As his basket of fish escape back to the sea, she pulls him into the depths, never to be seen again.

This reminds me the John Williams Waterhouse and his mythology collection.
Definitely has a Michaelangelo influence about it.
Absolutely gorgeous and inspiring work.Β  Β

Beautiful! I’ll have to come back to read all that you wrote above.
AH! yes I thought I recognized that it is Frederic Lord Leighton
Fabulous, I love this style.

Thank you! I didn't even know who Leighton was until I found this painting. Now he's one of my favorite artists. The story in the description is my own condensed version of the original poem by Goethe, which inspired Leighton's painting.

Love Leighton, my first love of his paintings is of β€œFlaming June”
My first take on it here [link]
And recently I did [link] (hence the name of my work)

Not sure if I commented yet, But I just wanted to say that this is freaking beautiful. and you picked such a wonderful painting to reference, I didn't know who Frederic Leighton was until now.

You did a great job mastering the flow of this composition as well. Kudos my friend! Bravo!

Thank you for the wonderful comment. I really appreciate it. The original painting is awe inspiring. I also had not heard of Leighton before I came across it. Now he's one of my favorite painters. Waterhouse, Godward, and especially Bouguereau are still my all-time favorites.
