Wow, yay, woo-hoo etc - thanks for the DD and all the comments everyone, I'll endeavour to answer them all but apologies if it takes a little time. This is a real encouragement and feels weird as I get used to looking at great DDs every day, which always inspire me.

I use paintshop pants (sorry Pro) for manip. It's clonky but then so are my manips - but i love experimenting. Thanks Nicole
