Description When surviving the day
In my usual way
Living in wayward times

Faking a smile
Acting all the while
The panic starts to climb

Walking on water
That will only get hotter
A slave to my emotion

I know what to do
To save me and you
With a silent steady motion

I pop the pill
That makes me fill
With vibrant mystic thunder

I swim in it's kiss
Happiness now exists
I am my only wonder

My thoughts aren’t destructive
My actions constructive
But my mouth is always dry

I’ll never be snappy
‘Cause I always am happy
And I never will ask why

But the happiness will stop
And I’ll fall from the top
Makes me desperate again

Want joy that will follow?
This pill you will swallow
Then say your amen

I will pop that pill
That makes me fill
With vibrant mystic thunder

Twenty-four more hours
I won’t be a coward
So I can be my wonder

This one really captured me, but I don't know why... I don't have first hand experience with the subject matter, but one or both of my kids may have to - that's may be why it grabbed me. I also like the rhythm and the structure. It has a, well, jaunty overtone and an undertone of anxiety that’s striking.
Good one!

I enjoyed this. It was interesting, letting the reader know about what it is like to take medication. I especially like the line 'With vibrant mystic thunder'.
