Pictures on the mantle,Remind me of better days.
Times when we were happy,
Memories now lost in a haze.
I’ve tried to remember your smile,
But it has faded along with the sun.
That beautiful sun set with the night
And along with it went our love.
Every night I lay awake
Searching for what went wrong.
And every night I’m disappointed,
By an answer so far gone.
You had stolen my heart
And refused to give it back.
It may be in a thousand pieces,
But it’s no longer yours to break.
You came into my life so quickly.
Forever I thought you’d be by my side.
But just as fast as you walked in,
Even faster you walked out.
