Okay, how on EARTH did you get your skin black without using awful, AWFUL grease makeup that gets all over everything?! It looks great!

If I recall correctly, it was cream-based makeup that was dusted liberally with black, silver, and purple eyeshadow, then sprayed with hairspray to set it. I had to dye my palms black with ink, and of course it rubbed off in places...

Aw that's cool. I know it's supposed to be the celtic Drow, but they way they're portrayed in pop culture look so similar to the gnostic Shades. That's what drew me to this one. That makeup had to've been insane to do.

High praise from the queen drow artist on DA. O_o Thanks! I just wish it were easier to pull off! (And didn't COME off so easily.)

Now if only it were easier to duplicate. >.> Cuz it would make a kick-arse costume to all sorts of events if only it didn't take 3 hours of makeup and leave me unable to touch anything.

Heh! Thanks! If I'd had the time and equipment, I might have been able to even improve upon it, but I ran out of prep time.

Awesome drow costume! Looks so real. Good job.
What did you use to 'blacken' the skin?

Pointy-Eared-Fiend In reply to AriyaSnow [2006-08-27 04:55:54 +0000 UTC]
A combination of water-based cream makeup (black and white mixed), eyeshadow, and india ink. Three hours later...

Holy crap! You managed to pull off a drow cosplay without it looking like hell!!! Most of the ones I have seen were TERRIBLE!! They painted themselves pitch black and it was awful. *noddles* Love the outfit--is this a character of yours? oh--and what did you do for the hair?

It's.... based after a sort-of character who needs some developing... Zara'fae, who you'll see in a couple pics in my gallery, one of which involves her wearing a large mink.... and not much else. >.> And the hair? Is the only white wig I could find at my local costume shop, as are the ears, which I painted to match. The bodice is compliments of Ravenswood Leather, as is the dagger, and the skirt I made myself.
